'The Young And The Restless' News: Kay Alden Returns To 'Y&R' Writing Team!Looks like there are more developments backstage at ‘The young and the Restless’ as Jamey Giddens from Daytime Confidential is reporting that Kay Alden returns as story consultant. This news comes shortly after Charles Pratt Jr. was replaced by Sally Sussman as head writer of the CBS daytime soap opera. Sussman previously wrote for ‘The Young and the Restless,’ hence the reason the show runners thought it was perfect for her to return given her familiarity with writing for the show.

Alden is a legendary soap writer who began her career way back in 1973 not long after Y&R first premiered. She started out as a script writer and worked under co-creator William J. Bell. Alden remained with the CBS soap opera for many years leaving in 2006. She spent years with the show working in a number of areas until she left back in 2006. Her most significant role for the show was when she made her way to head writer for the soap opera for several years spanning from 1998 – 2006.

Angelica McDaniel, the head of CBS Daytime had her little bit to say about Alden’s return. “Welcoming Kay back to The Young and the Restless, joining Sally Sussman and Mal Young [executive producer], continues our commitment to telling the most powerful stories while honoring the legacy of daytime’s No. 1 drama,” she said.

Not only is McDaniel happy to have her back but so is Sussman who also made a return to the daytime drama.”I am so thrilled to be working with Kay again. I can’t ever imagine doing Y&R without her,” said Sussman.

The changes in the writing team at ‘The Young and the Restless’ promises a good future for the soap opera. Look for more interesting and exciting storylines!
