‘The Young And The Restless’ Interview: Steve Burton Dishes On 2016 Daytime Emmy Nomination For Outstanding Supporting Actor‘The Young and the Restless’ Steve Burton [Dylan McAvoy] was nominated for a 2016 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama. Steve recently talked about his sixth nomination and his ‘Y&R’ costars with On-Air On-Soaps.

Speaking with Michael Fairman the actor revealed that the reel he submitted for consideration was the break-up scene with Avery Bailey Clark [Jessica Collins] and a goodbye scene with the actress.

When asked what it was about those scenes that made him choose them for submission Steve explained he wants to “pick the most honest work, and that’s what it’s about. It doesn’t matter if it’s over the top or not, because sometimes that wins.”

The news that he had been nominated reached Steve’s ears through Christian LeBlanc [Michael Baldwin]. Christian got a text that HE was nominated. Then Christian looked up the rest of the nominations and that’s how Steve found out. Of course he let his wife know right away – by test message.

When asked about his ‘Y&R’ costars Steve had nothing but good things to say about them. Steve and on-screen dad Doug Davidson [Paul Williams] are good friends and spend a lot of time together.

Burton divulged that Ian Ward [Ray Wise] was originally supposed to be Dylan’s father. However TPTB decided to make the change because Steve and Doug had great chemistry.

What advice does Steve Burton have for the younger actors on ‘The Young and the Restless’? Steve has a very strong work ethic and believes that actors should take their job seriously and show up on time to shoot your scenes. Steve credits ‘General Hospital’ Maurice Benard [Sonny Corinthos] for making him the actor he is today. “Maurice pushed me to the max, and that is why I have that great perspective.”

Congratulations to Steve Burton on being nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama category.
