Soap Opera Weekly Ratings May 2-6: May Sweeps Shows ‘Y&R ‘B&B’ ‘DOOL’ Ratings Up, ‘GH’ Losing Viewers

Soap-ratingsThe soap opera weekly ratings for May 2 through May 6 show that ‘The Young and the Restless’, ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’ gained both in total viewers and in the women ages 18-49 demographic category. After enjoying a rise in ratings ‘General Hospital’ is once again losing viewers.

Days of Our Lives

‘DOOL’ viewers came back strong during May Sweeps with 2,228,000 watching May 2 through May 6. That shows an increase of 29,000 total viewers. Women 18-49 came back too with 408,000 turning in. That represents a gain of 12,000 viewers in that demographic.

General Hospital

Soap Opera Network delivered some bad news for ‘GH’ during May Sweeps with 2,695,000 total viewers. That is a massive loss of 108,000 viewers from the previous week. The daytime drama didn’t fare well with women 18-49 either with 451,000 watching. That’s a loss of 22,000 viewers in that category over the previous week.

The Bold and the Beautiful

‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ didn’t gain any in total viewers, but the good news is the daytime drama didn’t lose any either with 3,850,000. There were 577,000 women ages 18-49 watching. That’s a small gain of 3,000 viewers in that demographic.

The Young and the Restless

According to the Soap Opera Network report ‘Y&R’ had a good week in the ratings. Total viewership was up by 30,000 with 4,910,000 turning in. The soap opera has gained favor again with women 18-49 with 697,000 watching last week. That’s a gain of 53,000 viewers during May Sweeps.

‘The Young and the Restless’ had a couple of weeks where the soap opera lost viewers but fans are coming back during May sweeps. ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ for the most part, remained the same. That isn’t good during May sweeps, but it isn’t bad either. Though still number four in the ratings ‘Days of Our Lives’ is winning back viewers.

With a loss of 22,000 women viewers 18-49 this week and a loss of 16,000 last week in the same demographic what is happening with ‘General Hospital? A loss of 108,000 total viewers is a big hit for the lone ABC soap opera to take in one week especially during the all-important May Sweeps.
