POP Cancels ‘Queens Of Drama’ After One Season!

‘Queens of Drama’ was a show that followed a group of former Daytime and Primetime actresses who were working together in front and behind the cameras to create, develop, pitch and produce a new series; with the hopes of landing a pilot deal by the end of the season.

The show made its debut in April 2015 and ran for one season. It is a bit surprising that this amazing cast couldn’t make it work longer than that. Vanessa Marcil (Brenda Barrett, General Hospital), Donna Mills (Madeline Reeves, General Hospital), Chrystee Pharris (Simone Russell, Passions), Lindsay Hartley (Arianna Hernandez, Days of Our Lives), Crystal Hunt (Stacy Marasco, One Life to Live), Hunter Tylo (Dr. Taylor Hayes, Bold and the Beautiful), Joan Collins (Alexis Carrington Colby, Dynasty), Jason-Shane Scott (Will Rappaport, One Life to Live) and even Lorenzo Lamas (Hector Ramirez, Bold and the Beautiful) made a guest appearance in one episode.

For fans of the show, it started out promising and with high hopes but it quickly turned into a typical backstabbing Primetime soap opera. You could clearly see that the drama we see in all our soap operas tends to spill over into real life as well, and it didn’t take long for the cast to be bickering and gossiping about each other. Every one of the women were acting like divas and were forgetting that Vanessa Marcil was the main reason the show happened in the first place.

When the show ended up showing the women fighting like a bunch of out of control teenagers, Vanessa left, which left Donna Mills the most qualified to keep the project moving forward. She had the years of experience and a huge fan base. Donna was willing to meet her contacts at The CW to pitch the show idea they had created, but the meeting ended badly when the other cast showed up demanding to be heard too. When they started acting like pampered spoiled brats, Donna walked out of the meeting feeling that the other women were totally ungrateful and because of their pride, and thinking they were more important than they actually were, they ruined this promising show.

Now, as fans, we will have to sit back and wait to see where these actors end up. Who knows, many one or two or even a few of them will end up on one of the shows we all faithfully watch!
