Michelle Stafford, Which Role Do You Prefer: GH’s Nina Reeves or Y&R’s Phyllis Abbott? VOTE!

Michelle Stafford is best known for two very different Soap Operas roles: the character of Phyllis Summers on CBS Daytime soap opera “The Young and the Restless” (Y&R) and the character she is currently playing Nina Clay Reeves on ABC Daytime soap opera “General Hospital”(GH). She plays both roles phenomenally, which is why she has a huge following of very devoted fans from each show.

In October 1994, Michelle Stafford debuted in the role of Phyllis Summers on “The Young & the Restless.” Believe it or not, it was only supposed to be a short-term role, but she blew producers away with her performance and was immediately placed on contract. She left Y&R in 1997, when she was cast to play lead character, Joanna Hadley, on Aaron Spelling’s Primetime soap opera Pacific Palisades. Sadly, the series was cancelled after 13 episodes, but her acting career didn’t slow down. She later guest-starred in Two Guys and a Girl, Diagnosis: Murder, and JAG, just to name a few. She also appeared opposite Ashley Judd in the 1999 thriller Double Jeopardy!

In July 2000, she returned to Y&R and even had the chance to play dual roles, not just as Phyllis but also portraying Sheila Carter (formerly played by Kimberlin Brown) from December 2006 to February 2007. On August 2, 2013, Michelle Stafford exited the role of Phyllis after sixteen years.

We were all taken by surprise on May 1, 2014, when the casting rumor turned out to be true and Michelle Stafford appeared at the end of the “General Hospital” episode as Dr. Silas Clay’s (Michael Easton) wife, Nina Clay. She played the role of a wife who felt robbed of her life when her mother, Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills) accidentally put her into a 20-year coma. Nina Clay wanted nothing more than to reunite with her husband and resume to the life they had before the coma.

As fans of the show know, this didn’t work out and she had moved on with Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) and have even seen a spark between her and other men around town. Recently, she had a one-night-stand with “Theo Hart”, but it is unknown at this point how that will all play out, now that she knows he is really Valentin Cassadine.

In the past couple years that Michelle Stafford has been playing the role of Nina, we have seen the character completely evolve. She still has this craziness about her, but she has also made a name for herself in the corporate world and is turning into quite the savvy business woman, who can stand up to people like Julian Jerome (William DeVry).

Both roles have been greatly accepted by fans, and both roles keep her front and center, with other prominent characters on each show. Which role do you prefer Michelle Stafford in? “Y&R” Phyllis Summers or “GH” Nina Reeves?
