‘General Hospital’ fans want to know: Will Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) be the next patient to check in to the venerable Port Charles institution?

Devoted GH fans know that lately Alexis has been experiencing some funny symptoms. Not as in ha-ha funny, but as in troubling and puzzling funny. Is Alexis, gasp, pregnant? How likely is it that Alexis is due for a midlife bonus baby? True, a boy would balance out the estrogen-fueled daughter-set she already has, but at her age?! Is Alexis really pregnant, as Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is blabbing to everyone, or is it a ruse to keep her dastardly, estranged husband Julian Jerome (William DeVry) from prematurely offing her? Who wouldn’t lie about a new life in order to keep the comfy old one you currently enjoy?

Or, has a previous cancer returned in some form? Back in 2006 Alexis cheated death; no not from the end of Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) scaly hand, but by beating backstage two lung cancer. Could a malignant disease be behind her recent woes? A cancer diagnosis would surely rock Alexis’ world as if her murderous, conniving husband hasn’t done that enough already.

Finally, is it possible that Alexis is simply going through, as David Bowie would say, “CHA-CHA-CHA-Changes?!” As in, the Big Change, menopause? Complicating diagnostic matters is the fact that ovarian cancer and menopause share similar symptoms. Quick, someone page that hunky ‘General Hospital’ Father/Doctor what’s-his-name, stat!

So, GH fans, what do you think is behind the lovely lawyer’s recent behavior? Is she due for a little bundle of joy, hopefully a male heir to give her wayward daughters a run for their money? Or, will Alexis face a cancer scare again? If so, will she again emerge victorious, will it be a long drawn out health battle, or will the lovely Natasha take her final voyage to Cassadine Island?

But, what if these scenarios don’t pan out and Alexis simply has to face every woman’s post-midlife nightmare? On the bright side, if Alexis does turn out to be battling menopause, there’s no chance she’ll be carrying another Port Chuck mini-mobster.
