‘General Hospital’ News: John Stamos’ New Show Raises Eyebrows – Similar To Kimberly McCullough’s ‘Hey Day’ Project

'General Hospital' News: John Stamos' New Show Raises Eyebrows - Similar To Kimberly McCullough's 'Hey Day' Project‘General Hospital’ alums Kimberly McCullough [Robin Scorpio] and John Stamos [Blackie Parrish] have similar television projects in the works. ‘GH’ fans are upset because they believe Stamos’s project is too similar to Kimberly’s – which the actress began in 2014.

News of Stamos’s development deal was announced on September 16. The actor and producer has partnered with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron and Universal TV to create the as yet untitled drama. No information is available regarding how long the negotiations for Stamos’s show have been in progress.

Former ‘General Hospital’ co-star Jason Thompson [Patrick Drake] took to Twitter to inform fans that Kimberly’s ‘Hey Day’ project has been in the works much longer than Stamos’s. When Deadline revealed the details about Stamos’s development deal, Jason tweeted, “Oh you mean @whitewatercrew’s #HeyDay? Little to familiar if you ask me.”

Many fans commented that they too find the premise of Stamos’s television project much too similar to Kimberly’s ‘Hey Day.’ Neither John Stamos nor Kimberly McCullough has publicly commented on the subject.

‘Hey Day’ is based on Kimberly’s experiences as a child actress growing up on a hugely popular soap opera in the 1980s. Kimberly joined ‘GH’ in 1985, originating the role of Robin Scorpio which she has portrayed off and on since she was seven-years-old.

Stamos was 18 when he joined the cast of ‘GH’ as Blackie Parrish in 1982. The actor left the daytime drama in 1984 to pursue a career in primetime.

The series planned by Stamos will explore the journey of a young actor who became a teen idol seemingly overnight “during a decade defined by Reganomics, greed, excess, indulgence and materialism.”

William deVry [Julian Jerome], Kimberly McCullough’s former ‘GH’ co-star, recently tweeted, @whitewatercrew #Heyday & it’s content is yours. Or join forces w @JohnStamos. Continued success on awesome journey that is yours!”

‘General Hospital’ fans, what do you think? Is John Stamos’s development project too close to the work Kimberly McCullough has been doing with ‘Hey Day’ since 2014? Or do you think each actor has their own story to tell from their own perspective?
