‘General Hospital’ News: Hayden’s Mom Cast! Soap Vet Robin Riker To Play Naomi Dreyfus

‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers have been swirling for weeks that GH was casting for family members for Rachel Berlin aka Hayden Barnes [Rebecca Budig]. There was a casting call for a dad, mother and sibling. Now official word has come that Naomi Dreyfus has been cast and it’s none other than Robin Riker!

There’s no official word yet on whether Raymond Berlin, Hayden’s dad, has been cast –  he’s supposed to be cooling his heels in prison for his Ponzi scheme. But it looks like Mrs Berlin (aka Naomi Dreyfus) will hit Port Charles in early June and will be a recurring character.

The gorgeous redhead is a familiar face to TV watchers – she’s been featured on the series Justified, The Glades, Switched at Birth, NCIS, Boston Legal, and more. But soap fans may remember Robin Riker from “The Bold and The Beautiful” and “Days of Our Lives.”

On B&B, Robin Riker played Beth Logan, Brooke Logan [Katherine Kelly Lang] and Katie Logan’s [Heather Tom] mother. She still returns to B&B every now and then. On DOOL, Riker originated the role of Maureen Lockhart, who was once married to Mickey Horton [Kevin Dobson].

Hayden’s mom must know that her daughter married Nikolas Cassadine [Tyler Christopher] so perhaps Naomi is coming to town to mooch off Hayden’s good fortune (which is not so good right now). Also remember Nikolas just found that little sack of diamonds…

Is Naomi coming to demand that her daughter hand those over? And if Hayden’s mom is devious like her daughter, can we expect to see them conspiring to get more of Nikolas’ fortune? We also have to wonder why Naomi does not go by the name Mrs Berlin?

Did she go back to her maiden name because the Berlin name had been permanently tarnished by the Ponzi scandal? It will be nice to see Hayden get some family in town since she’s utterly alone except for her pal Curtis Ashford [Donnell Turner].

TPTB at GH indicated they wanted a “named” actress (already established and known) to play Hayden’s mom and it looks like they landed a great one. We’re excited to see what trouble Naomi Dreyfus will stir up when Robin Riker makes her GH debut on Friday June 3.
