‘General Hospital’ News: 7 Reasons We Want Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) Back On GH

'General Hospital' News: 7 Reasons We Want Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) Back On GH‘General Hospital’ (GH) has been a bit light on Dr Liesl Obrecht [Kathleen Gati] lately and we miss her. It seems to be a common thread that GH fans can love the most awful characters – so long as they keep us amused or intrigued. But we don’t always get enough of our beloved bad guys.

We see plenty of some of the other baddies – Franco [Roger Howarth], everyone’s favorite reformed serial killer – amnesiac hit man Jason Morgan [Billy Miller] – and ruthless mob boss and family man Sonny Corinthos [Maurice Benard] have all been front and center lately, but not Dr O.

GH writers have a way of making us love the scariest in Port Charles but one that we adore and don’t get nearly enough of us Dr Obrecht. Here are seven reason we want Dr Obrecht back front and center in GH storylines.

#1 She’s the most hilariously terrifying boss

Nothing says lack of workplace sensitivity like Dr Obrecht telling her staff that the Nutcracker Gala is mandatory fun and threatening them with double shifts on Christmas if they fail to attend or try to sneak out early. Let’s face it – she’s a walking HR violation and could care less.

#2 She’s a consummate showman

It was surprising (and a bit disappointing) that Liesl didn’t take the stage during the holiday Gala and perform one of her showstoppers. Her Nurses Ball rendition of 99 Red Balloons was mesmerizing as was her forcing her underlings to inflate all 99 of those balloons. More, more, more!

#3 She’s beloved by kids (not…)

The children of Port Charles likely slept better this Christmas since Dr O didn’t haul out her Krampus costume and again tell the little ones the terrifying tale of the dark side of the holiday. But you have to give Liesl credit, she treats everyone equally and is willing to scare anyone of any age.

#4 She’s got unexplored mother issues

We’ve not seen nearly enough of Nathan West [Ryan Paevey] with his mother. He only found out about her relatively recently, but we haven’t seen any real bonding. Perhaps Nathan and Liesl can share an awkward yet sweet Mother’s Day this year. We’d love to see her mothering the detective.

#5 She’d be the mother in law from HELL

Once Nathan accepts her fully into his life, then Dr O will become a terrifying factor for Maxie Jones [Kirsten Storms]. Madeline Reeves [Donna Mills] tangled with Maxie but didn’t come out on top. Is Maxie up to taking on Liesl as the wicked mum of the man she loves? Would be amazing to watch.

#6 She’s lacking a love story

Liesl’s love life is just sad – she loved Cesar Faison [Anders Hove] who was obsessed with Anna Devane [Finola Hughes] and offered to get busy again with Liesl only if she wore an Anna mask. That’s just awful. Liesl needs a man of her own – how great would she be with Paul Hornsby [Richard Burgi]?

#7 She still needs to deal with her terrifying other baby daddy

One storyline that’s still dangling is Nathan’s secret bio-dad? Liesl killed her good buddy Victor Cassadine [Thaao Penghlis] to keep it quiet. Is it Valentin Cassadine? We’d love to see the evilest of Cassadines show up to wreak havoc, get to know his kid, and maybe romance Liesl.
