Nicole’s Weekly Soap Rants & Raves: What Were Your Favorite and Least Favorite Storylines for Week of September 7, 2015?

WOW!!! What a week in daytime TV! Blackmail, backstabbing, death, crying, conniving and corporate espionage aplenty. Let’s take a look at the good, bad, ugly and stuff that made you scream at your television.

The Young and the Restless

While there was a lot of craziness going on in Genoa City this past week our biggest rant comes solely from Friday’s episode. Once again we are fuming over Neil keeping Hilary hostage and NOW he has swiped Gwen’s sister Emma’s hospital ID to get into the supply room at the hospital. The whole Neil storyline is unrealistic. We think Neil has dug a hole so deep we can’t figure out how the writers are going to get him out of it.
We want to know when Dylan became an expert on relationships. Mariah asking him for advice about her relationship with Kevin was painful to watch. Not Mariah, Dylan. This is a man who had an affair with Avery – a married woman – that ended because she thought he was dead. The next relationship we know of is with Chelsea – and that was all based on a lie. Then Dylan hooked back up with Avery again, they got engaged and then a series of unfortunate events (bad writing) drove them apart. Now, Dylan is in another relationship – engaged to be married – based on a lie. Yeah, he’s the first one I’d run to for relationship advise.

Victor surprised us on Friday with his touching – but brief – scene with his granddaughter Faith. It warmed out hearts to watch the little girl go through her smiling Grandpa’s pockets looking for a goody or two. Not finding anything, Victor pulled a coin out from behind Faith’s ear and to hear him chuckle with a soft and loving look on his face reminded us why we watch “Y&R.”

General Hospital

There isn’t much to complain about this week. The aftermath of Sonny’s shooting brought out the best in just about everyone. Watching the switch flip and seeing the dark and angry side of Jake come out AND then Michael flipping back into Corinthos mode had us cheering! Carly’s touching scenes with an unconscious Sonny at the hospital made us reach for the tissues.

The biggest problem we have with “GH” right now is the slow as molasses Jake/Jason reveal. We’re tired of Liz keeping the secret from him. We’re on pins and needles wondering if she’s going to tell him who he is…..frustrated that the week ended with Liz saying “I have something to tell you.” C’mon already!!! Some of us who were rooting for Jason and Liz to end up together are now rooting for a Jason and Sam reunion.

Bold and the Beautiful

More of Caroline and Ridge and how excited they are to be engaged – but whoa! They’re going to get married RIGHT THIS MINUTE in Malibu without a minister. They’re going to make up their vows, just the two of them. Don’t you need some kind of officiant and witnesses and a marriage license to make it legal? What kind of crap is Ridge trying to pull? If you ask us – whatever happens, both Ridge and Caroline will get what they deserve.

Steffy flipped on Ivy – gee who didn’t see that coming?! She yanked that new face of Forrester right out from under Ivy without batting an eyelash. Why Ivy, I didn’t promise you ANYTHING in return for you deleting that video! Oh, beware the wrath of Ivy! We’re betting that video isn’t deleted — it’s floating out there in the Cloud somewhere.
The best scene of the week goes to Bill Spencer stepping up and playing patriarch of the Spencer family. He has put Ridge on notice – and if Ridge breaks Caroline’s heart there will be hell to pay. And the looks Katie and Ridge exchanged during Bill’s speech were priceless – winking and eye rolling at its finest!

Days of Our Lives

The ratings keep climbing and veteran actors are coming back and life has become more and more exciting each day in Salem. We’re so happy to see Marlena and John back together – but sad to hear Marlena say she that while she’s happy to have John home she wonders when he’ll run off on his next mission. Why can’t Marlena and John just be happy? Why is she always waiting for the other shoe to drop? ARGH!

Hope accepted Aiden’s marriage proposal but had some reservations because of her past with Bo. Aiden was very loving and kind – but told her if Bo was going to be a cloud over their heads their relationship wasn’t going to work. But you know that their happy ending isn’t happening. Bo is a hostage and being tortured and eventually he’s going to find his way back to Salem. We’re not sure about this one – do we want Hope and Bo back together? We kind of like Hope and Aiden together.

The best scene of the week goes to Eve and Justin. In the aftermath of Paige’s heartbreaking murder Eve was brought to her knees and Justin was right there to hold her as grieved. We pulled out at least two boxes of tissues as we watched Eve at her most vulnerable and Justin feeling powerless to help her or to make the pain go away. In the end just his presence – reassuring Eve she is not alone – allowed her some comfort. Justin was so gentle and caring with Eve – we’re not sure who tugged at our heart-strings more, he or Eve.

Regarding Y&R, the writer missed the whole purpose of Mariah asking Dylan for relationship advice. She was making believe she needed advice when in fact she was trying to find out how Dylan would react to finding out Sharon had miscarried. She wanted to find out if Dylan was with Sharon just because of the baby or because he truly loved her and whether he would stand by her
