'General Hospital' News: 'GH' Alum Jonathan Jackson Scores Critics Choice Awards Nomination For 'Nashville'‘General Hospital’ (GH) fans love Lucky Spencer and his portrayer Jonathan Jackson. We knew what a talent Jackson was when he first stepped into the role of Laura [Genie Francis] and Luke’s [Anthony Geary] son at age 11.

He’s always been phenomenal on GH and now his work on ABC primetime soap Nashville has landed him a Critics’ Choice nomination for the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama category. If you haven’t seen Jonathan Jackson on the country-themed soap, you are missing out.

Jackson plays opposite Hayden Panetierre who is also a soap alum from Guiding Light and One Life to Live. On Nashville, Jonathan Jackson plays Avery Barkley, a singer-songwriter who weds then divorces hot country superstar Juliette Barnes (played by Panetierre).

Over the current season of Nashville, they’ve dealt with romance, break-ups, pregnancy of questionable paternity, divorce, Juliette’s post-partum depression, and then Avery’s single-dad struggles. He has done fine work and absolutely deserves the Critics’ Choice nomination.

Hayden Panetierre was also nominated for her role in the Best Supporting Actress category. Both have done impressive work on Nashville and were the only two actors nominated from the large ensemble cast of the hit ABC primetime show.

In addition to his stellar acting chops, Jonathan Jackson is a top-notch singer. Check out the video below of Jonathan Jackson singing “Unchained Melody” at the Grand Ole Opry. His talent is staggering and his acting is equally as good.

This year in particular, Jonathan Jackson’s character has gone through a huge arc and it has really shown his range. We all know from years on ‘General Hospital’ that the young man can act, but he’s got all his talent on display on Nashville and definitely earned this nomination.

To see if Jonathan Jackson wins his Critics’ Choice category, tune into the Awards Gala on January 17, 2016 on either A&E or Lifetime. And fingers crossed we get to see Luck back in Port Charles soon as well – if his big Hollywood career doesn’t get in the way.
