'Days of Our Lives' (DOOL) News: First Episode by New Head Writer Team Josh Griffith and Dena Higley Aired - Did You See A Difference?

Earlier in the year, “Days of Our Lives” announced that Josh Griffith landed the job as co-head writer. He was to share head writing responsibilities with Dana Higley. “DOOL” fans hoped that Griffith and Higley would be able to save the show. Before he landed the job, it seemed evident the show could be canceled in a few years. The ratings were down and the storylines were confusing. It appears that Griffith and Higley could the NBC soap’s last hope to stay on the air. On Aug. 19, “DOOL” aired the first script under the new head writers.

Josh Griffith is an experienced soap opera writer. He started his career in 1988 writing for “Santa Barbara.” In 1991, he moved to “One Life to Live.” Under his writing, the show obtained a Daytime Emmy award. He stayed with the show until 1995. He wrote for “Sunset Beach” for several year before the show was canceled.

It was briefly rumored that he would return to “Y&R” before the show hired Charles Pratt as head writer. Josh Griffith has over thirty years of scriptwriting experience. If anyone is able to save “Days of Our Lives” from dying, he would be the person to do it.

She knows the characters on “Days of Our Lives” and the history of the show, which will be a huge asset to Josh Griffith as he settles in as co-head writer.
