'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Devon's Recovery Brings New Perspective On Life - Can He Ignore Critics and Strengthen Marriage

Devon (Bryton James) could have easily been killed on ‘The Young and the Restless’. As a result, Hilary (Mishael Morgan) knows that she’s been given yet another chance to build a better relationship with her husband. But Devon’s clearing mental images also makes him realize that he needs to continue evolving as well.

Thankfully the hand of God, Devon’s sports’ car’s safety technology, and modern medicine saved him. Yes, science isn’t the only religion that open soap minds believe in. Just like those rational human beings, Hilary and Devon recognize that changes are needed in their marriage.

Some couples obviously veer off the road as time flows. In this instance, ‘Hevon’ has fallen into a destructive pattern that’s steeped in emotional energy. The good news is, their issues are reconcilable.

On the upside, these two likable young people clearly love each other. And yes, Hilary is likable. All who openly responded with riled indignation to the last sentence need to continue working on those deep breathing methods that were suggested in the past.

Devon and Hilary had hard lives when they were growing up. But Devon was fortunate to be embraced by the Winters’ family during his later teenage years. While certain daytime drama issues impacted his life, the love he was offered through Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Lily’s (Christel Khalil) hearts allowed him to trust in the goodness of other people.

Based on her backstory, Hilary didn’t benefit from the gift of compassion until just a few years ago. It took awhile for her to earn a more traditional life after arriving in Genoa City in 2013. Devon, along with Neil, understands that point. Lily doesn’t because her understandable emotions and protective family instincts affect an ability to offer compassion to her unwanted sister-in-law (and former mother-in-law).

While Hilary continues to work on recognizing trigger issues, Devon has a different task to focus on. He must look past all outside observer’s critiques and continue to give his wife his love. And only the course would find that conclusion to be mushy.

Inhale, exhale. Now repeat slowly. Yes, other people are experts on their own lives. And ‘Hevon’ has and will continue to benefit from well-intentioned advice, when needed.
