The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Scott Can’t Leave Newman Enterprises – I Dream of Jeannie Revisited

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Scott Can't Leave Newman Enterprises - I Dream of Jeannie Revisited

Scott (Daniel Hall) is understandably frustrated on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He’s stuck babysitting Abby (Melissa Ordway). Despite Sharon’s (Sharon Case) encouragement, this free spirit can’t leave his post at Newman Enterprises because he owes Victor (Eric Braeden) his life.

Apparently the ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ look is making a comeback, as Abby sported a Barbara Eden-esque look (sans the pink scarf) during an episode this week. This corporate executive isn’t a dead ringer for the former Jeannie, but still projects that character’s view of reality at times.

Of course Victor couldn’t play Tony Nelson (Larry Hagman) in a reimagined version of that classic sitcom, as that character was light-hearted. But did Hagman’s later turn in ‘Dallas’, as notorious businessman J.R. Ewing, inspire Y&R’s writers to create Braeden’s character? J.R. debuted on CBS’ nighttime soap in 1978, Victor arrived in Genoa City in 1980.

Abby has worked hard, for a year. But she’s not street smart, which is one of the reasons why her father is having Scott track her moves.

Switching back to Sharon – She’s unaware of something that Christine (Lauralee Bell) and the viewers know. Scott’s actually a government operative who’s been posing as a journalist. Whether Victor already knows that fact is a point savvy soap fans have surely been considering.

Victor sacked his proposed biography after taking ‘Pikki Nikki’s’ (Melody Thomas Scott) words about the subject to heart. Instead of releasing Scott from his debt, the ‘Moustache’ repositioned Mr. Grainger.

Abby already forged ahead with a new business venture involving start-up companies when her father nixed what was presented to him as a proposal. Miss Newman’s brainstorm included buying a warehouse, which she then quickly sold to her uncle Jack (Peter Bergman). Split loyalties considered and put aside, what was Abby thinking?!

Yes, two ending punctuation marks were needed in that last sentence. No, Abby can’t nod her head and blink, Jeannie style. If she could, Scott would be miniaturized and trapped in her bottle. But her father would still be Victor and that’s the problem.
