‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Devon Gives Hilary Gift – Hevon’s Bliss Temporary?

Devon (Bryton James) experienced flashbacks on ‘The Young and the Restless’. While recalling tidbits of the car crash sequence, his mind didn’t retrieve details that involved Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) provocation. ‘Hevon’ fans aren’t relieved though, as they know a potential moment of reckoning could be forthcoming.

It is generally good for Devon to have reached the conclusion that he did. Yes, focusing on the goodness within the relationship he shares with Hilary is best. However, his wife is concerned that Devon’s eventual realization of what happened a few weeks ago and her having withheld critical information from him could result in a permanent schism.

Upon reflection it does seem like a lot is being made out of a situation that actually doesn’t involve ‘Hevon’ itself. Hilary did pull a chord at GC Buzz’ studios that caused Mariah (Camryn Grimes) to fall headfirst and seriously hurt herself, in addition to ruining a live Chelsea 2.0 segment.

Yet, as Jack (Peter Bergman) said to Hilary this week, her intentional act was nowhere near what Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson) did to him through their combined betrayal. His followup advice hit home, as Hilary left their conversation and planned to tell Devon the whole truth.

Hilary was trying to enlighten Devon about what happened on New Year’s Eve night, but he cut her off. That point likely offers cover for Hilary in the future, as she can honestly claim that Devon’s expressed intentions prevented her from coming clean at that exact moment.

A balanced perspective seems to conclude that Hilary crossed the line with Mariah due to jealousy issues. But, Mariah’s retaliation at the Abbott-Winters Foundation event was also bad. And Devon obviously overreacted by mishandling his emotions regarding those incidents, after which he crashed his just-won sports car and badly injured himself.

While he doesn’t have all the facts, Devon’s baseline analysis is correct. Move forward in the new year and release the past. Although history tells viewers that further conflict must lie ahead for ‘Hevon’ because that’s what fuels soap’s storylines. How this couple handles further conflicts will determine if they’re capable of maturing and enduring.
