'General Hospital' POLL: Which GH Actor Deserves a Daytime Emmy? VOTE!2016 was an epic year for ABC’s General Hospital, we lost some very beloved characters bringing out some incredible acting. Who do you think deserves a Daytime Emmy Award for their performances this past year?

General Hospital’s Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) had some unforgettable defining moments in 2016. Sonny has struggled with bipolar disorder for many years, so when his son was diagnosed with the same illness, his emotions included the guilt of passing on the illness to the next generation. Sonny let fans see his raw emotions when Morgan (Bryan Craig) died during a manic episode. Maurice Benard was able to show the true anguish a father endures after losing a child.

Bryan Craig who portrays Morgan Corinthos did an amazing job as well. He hit the mark playing a young man dealing with a mental illness. He was able to touch our hearts with his depression and his struggle trying to come to terms with taking medication for the rest of his life. We watched as he tried to have a relationship with someone who was clearly no couldn’t commit to him and then we watched as he stumbled through his last day alive, sobbing by the time he died.

GH’s Chad Duell had an outstanding year as Michael Corinthos. Michael has always played the role of peacemaker in his family, but this year he had more loss than anyone in Port Charles. Fans were overjoyed when he forgave and reunited with Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo). He showed more heart than anyone, and almost immediately it was ripped out from him with Sabrina was brutally murdered by the General Hospital serial killer.

Michael fought for his sanity and when it came time, he did the right thing by giving Sabrina’s son Teddy to his family. As if that wasn’t enough for his poor heart to handle, a little while later, his brother Morgan dies in a mob hit gone wrong. Chad Duell is a true contender for the award, no?

Roger Howarth has really won the over the hearts of fans as Franco Baldwin. He is the son of GH’s residential psychopath, Heather Webber (Robin Mattson) and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner), both powerhouses in the industry and he has proven to be able to hold his own. He had gone from a very dysfunctional but enjoyable relationship with Nina Reeves (Michelle Stafford) to a steady relationship with Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst).

Roger Howarth has given fans the chance to see that he is redeemable, even after seeing him cage rapist Tom Baker (Don Harvey). Roger Howarth has shown us that with his acting, Franco is very much a multi-dimensional character who is capable of anything.
