Weekly Soap Ratings Week of July 4-8: Great Week For 'Y&R' And 'B&B' – 'GH' Ratings Take Huge Hit – 'DOOL' New Low

The soap opera ratings for the week of July 4-8 have been posted by Soap Opera Network and after three weeks of ratings increases ‘General Hospital’ took a huge ratings hit. The Bold and the Beautiful’ ratings were up with total viewers but done in the women 18-49 category.

‘The Young and the Restless’ ratings bounced back across the board after plummeting the week before. ‘Days of Our Lives’ has reached yet another new low in ratings losing total viewers as well as women 18-49.

Days of Our Lives

‘Days of our Lives’ had 2,045,000 total viewers for the week of July 4-8. This represents a loss of 49,000 from the previous week and a new low in this category for ‘DOOL.’ There were 375,000 women 18-49 who tuned in, a loss of 15,000 in this demographic.

General Hospital

For three straight weeks ‘GH’ saw a gain in ratings across the board. For the week of July 4-8 Soap Opera Network reports that 2,587,000 total viewers tuned in which is a loss of 170,000 in this category.

The daytime drama had 441,000 women 18-49 watching last week – that’s a loss of 20,000 viewers in this demographic over the previous week.

The Bold and the Beautiful

It was a see-saw week for ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ with 3,756,000 total viewers watching. That’s an increase of 141,000 over the previous week. However, 537,000 women 18-49 tuned in. That’s a loss of 13,000 in that demographic.

The Young and the Restless

‘Y&R’ came back the week of July 4-8 with 4,666,000 total viewers. That’s an increase of 94,000 viewers. Women 18-49 came back to watch ‘The Young and the Restless’ with 654,000 turning in. That’s an increase of 17,000 in this category over the previous week.

Why did ‘General Hospital’ lose so many viewers the week of July 4-8 after three straight weeks of steady gains in the ratings? The drop in the ratings for ‘DOOL’ could be explained by preemptions for Wimbledon. Remember also, ‘Days of Our Lives’ will be preempted much of August for the Summer Olympics.
