‘The Young And The Restless’ RUMOR: Is Y&R Recasting The Role Of Malcolm Winters?

The Young and the Restless viewers may see Malcom Winters back in Genoa City before long according to new Y&R rumors. A casting call has gone out for a character with the working name ‘Ryder.’ The description of the man TPTB are looking for sounds suspiciously like that of Neil Winters’ [Kristoff St. John] younger brother.

Here’s the description of the Y&R casting department is looking for, according to Soap Opera Digest:

“An African-American male who is a minimum of 6-feet tall and in his early 30s to play the role of ‘Ryder.’ The character is a photographer with sex appeal and swagger.”

The last Y&R fans saw of Malcom was his return in 2014 to reconcile with Neil and help older brother cope with his sudden blindness after an electrical accident. Then Malcom took off for Virginia and hasn’t been back in Genoa City since.

Developing a hot storyline for Malcom Winters would be a boost for Neil, who is in desperate need of some screen time. Though Neil and Malcom love each other, there is always drama whenever the brothers are living in the same city.

When The Young and the Restless fans saw the casting call go out of course they immediately thought this is a recast for Malcom. But is it possible TPTB are throwing up a smoke screen?

Shemar Moore, who originated the role back in 1994, is available to return. The actor vacated his role as Derek Morgan on the primetime CBS drama ‘Criminal Minds.’ Would Moore consider a fulltime comeback as Malcom?

Ryder could very well be a brand-new character on The Young and the Restless. Maybe Devon Hamilton [Bryton James] has a brother out there he never knew about. Devon didn’t know mega-rich Tucker McCall [Stephen Nichols] was his father or that billionaire Katherine Chancellor [the late Jeanne Cooper] was his grandmother.

Maybe Devon’s mother Yolanda [originally Chene Lawson, then Debbi Morgan] had an affair before Devon’s birth. Think about it, Devon could use an ally right about now and a half-brother would be nice.

Doesn’t the photographer part give it away that this is a recast for Malcom Winters though? Malcom travels all over the world as a photographer and Y&R viewers know it, they’re a very difficult fan base to fool!
