‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) Interview: Miles Gaston Villanueva Talks Character Luca Santori “Layered and Complex”

“Young and the Restless” has a new face on the set. Miles Gaston Villanueva was hired recently in a reoccurring role, Luca. Michael Fairman explains the character will dazzle Genoa City with his great smile and charm. His arrival in Genoa City could spell t-r-o-u-b-l-e for Marissa (Sofia Pernas) and Noah (Robert Adamson). Are you excited what type of secrets Marissa could be hiding?

Michael Fairman sat down with Miles in Los Angeles. He asked him how he landed this role. He portrayed a priest on the show, not long ago. Apparently, they liked him in the role and decided to call him back to read for the role of Luca. They loved him and booked him almost immediately. He recalls when he was officially hired that Jill Farren Phelps came up to him to shake his hand. She said, “I am the one who hired you.” He felt appreciative for the opportunity to work with the best soap opera in the industry.

Miles noted that TPTB did not tell him how they want him to portray Luca. He knew going into the role that he should be mysterious, sexy, and confident. He said that working with Sofia Pernas was easy. She is so friendly and easy going. He doesn’t have many details about Luca yet but said he was told he had an explosive secret about Marissa. He said there are many speculations about Luca’s role. “Is he really her husband? Could he just be an angry ex which she left for Marco? Is he connected to Marco at all? These are questions fans will have to tune in to find out,” he said.

He cautioned the fans from believing that Luca is a bad boy. He is layered and complex. He will have problems and is far from Marissa’s hero. He will likely come into between Noah and Marissa- ending the happily ever after. It will throw a wrench in the relationship and test it to the limit. “Will they survive the test, Tune, in order to find out,” he stated.

He noted he was enjoying working with his cast members and cannot wait until the fans get to know Luca. Do you think he will be trouble for Marissa and Noah? Is it possible he is connected to Marco?
