'The Young and the Restless' News: Jessica Collins Wraps Up Time as Avery on Y&R – Christian LeBlanc Says She Knocked It 'Out of the Park'

The latest “Young and the Restless” news reveals that Jessica Collins, who plays Avery on Y&R, is officially done filming at the CBS soap. Christian LeBlanc (Michael) recently tweeted a picture of the cast along with the caption “@JessicaCollins knocks it out of the park on her last #YR day!!!” Collins has delivered some particularly gripping performances over the past couple of weeks and even more are on the way. Unfortunately, it seems Avery will leave town on a bit of a down note.

Daytime Confidential gave the scoop on a previous storyline Y&R’s head writer, Chuck Pratt, concocted. Pratt wanted the strong, spirited lawyer to falsely accuse Joe (Scott Elrod) of rape. Since Avery spent much of her career standing up for those wrongfully accused of crimes, this scenario obviously didn’t fit the character. Pratt’s new direction may leave Avery’s integrity intact, but it will probably lead to some heartbreak.

“The Young and the Restless” rumors hint that Avery will be raped by a masked intruder. Considering all of Joe’s vague threats, he obviously rises to the top of the suspect list. There have also been some rumblings that Joe could pay someone to attack Avery. Whatever happens, it will likely be brutal and Avery won’t be able to prove who committed the terrible crime. Word has it a distraught Avery will say goodbye to her friends and family members as she tries to move on with her life elsewhere.

That doesn’t sound like much of a conclusion, but at least it will leave things open for a potential return. There’s always a chance that Collins might resume the role somewhere down the road. Of course, no one is ever really dead on a soap, but killing off a character always presents a few more challenges if he or she decides to show back up. It looks like Avery will live to tell her tale, but “The Young and the Restless” viewers will still have to bid her a fond farewell. Collins’ last airdate should be sometime around the end of July. We’ll give you updates if any more details emerge on Avery’s final episodes.

I really hate to see Avery leave the show. She is a great actress. She’s a strong attorney. Really better than Michael. If we had to lose someone it should have been that whining Summer. It’s really time for her to go. Is she related to someone? Maybe that’s why she’s still on the show. Smh….

I think the writers and producers of this have gone crazy! !! They are totally ruining this show for me…I don’t even recognize the characters anymore! When are the powers that be going to wake up grom whatever coma they are in and smell yhe disaster that these people are doing to what used to be the best soap in the business???

I have really enjoyed Avery on Y&R and am so disappointed that she and Dylan did not stay a couple and that she is not staying on the show. She is a delightful actress and a chef as well it seems. Will miss seeing her but would love to turn to ABC and see her on GH. She would be a great asset to that soap IMO

I am sorry to see Avery leave. She is an awesome actor. I would rather see her leave to sort her life out than a brutal rape sceneral I have watched Y&R for 40+ years and I don’t like the direction this show is directed. It is too much like the other soaps.
Best of luck to Jessica Collins. I even named a puppy after the beautiful actor.
