Daytime Emmy Award PREDICTIONS: Best Actor and Actress For 2016 Emmy Awards – VOTE!

Daytime Emmy Award PREDICTIONS: Best Actor and Actress For 2016 Emmy Awards - VOTE!The end of the year is approaching, and it’s time to for actors to get the daytime Emmy away submission in. There have been so many powerful scenes this year, so it is extremely difficult to pick which actors will make the cut. Below are ten possibilities based on their powerful storylines and emotional scenes over the year.

Best Actor Predictions

A year ago, fans were extremely upset at the possibility of someone taking over the role of “Y&R” Adam Newman. Justin Hartley stepped into the role knowing he has nearly impossible shoes to fill. He filled Michael Muhney’s shoes and even exceeded his talent and ability. In less than a year, the talented actor made the role his own. One of his best scenes of the year was when he begged Chelsea [Melissa Claire Egan] to give them another chance. After watching it, you couldn’t help but say that was an Emmy reel.

“Days of our Lives” Billy Flynn is a favorite to win a daytime Emmy award. He had a wonderful year on the soap, reach super couple status with co-star, Kate Mansi.  Fans adore him and would be extremely happy if he received the daytime honor.

There’s no doubt that Jason Thompson has a chance to win the daytime Emmy award this year. He has had many emotional scenes with Sam Morgan [Kelly Monaco], all centered around her inability to give up on her presumed and not-so-dead husband, Jason [Billy Miller]. He announced he was leaving the show, and immediately fans assumed he would win the Emmy for his role on the soap.

Peter Bergman played a character that was much different than he was used too- “Y&R” Marco Annicelli. The character was crude, rude, and outspoken- qualities that Jack Abbott wasn’t. He said he had fun playing a role that was so much different than his everyday role. He even stated he couldn’t wait to bring Marco back on the canvas.

“GH” star Billy Miller has HUGE shoes to fill. Steve Burton played Jason Morgan for years, and fans LOVED him. He decided to leave the role, and Miller was cast in the role. In a little over a year, he made the role his own and now fans can’t imagine another actor in the role. The scenes when Jake learns he is really Jason Morgan are definitely Emmy award winning scenes.

Best Actress Predictions

Laura Wright is a talented actress. This year, she did a great job in every scene she was in. Her “GH” character experienced great loss when her new husband, Sonny [Maurice Benard] was shot and now is in a wheelchair. She brought her A game in each scene she filmed. She showed why she is one of the daytime’s superstars.

“B&B” superstar Linsey Godfrey has had a fabulous year. She was the only actor picked from the CBS soap after she brought you to tears in her scenes when she told Ridge [Thorsten Kaye] about her one-night stand with his son Thomas [Pierson Fode]. She showed emotion without being too emotional. She was believable and showed that she truly is one of the best in the industry.

One of the best crazy people Emmy award performance’s MUST go to Cady McClain. She played “Y&R” Kelly Andrews perfectly, and you really believed she was completely nuts. At one point, you questioned if anyone was really this insane, but at no point, did you not believe her performance. Her best scene was when she was holding Jack [Peter Bergman] in the barn after he married Phyllis [Gina Tognoni]. Jack realized she was not quite well, and tried to talk sense into her. It was a great scene.

“DAYS” Kristian Alfonso is the favorite pick for the NBC soap. She has had a great year and impressed the staff so much that they offered her a contract extension for her role of Hope. Recently, the show brought back Bo [Peter Reckell] only to have to face the fact he is dying. Her scenes were some of the most emotional scenes aired in November.

“Y&R”  actress Kelly Sullivan is a newcomer to the CBS soap, but not to soap acting. She is a seasoned vet that knows the business- inside and out. Her scenes when she learned her baby died were emotional and hearts wrenching. She showed the fans why she was selected for the role of Sage Warner.

Tony Geary’s farewell story sucked….but his performance was amazing. He deserves another Emmy.
But, if he has taken himself out of consideration or is ineligible….then I vote for Maurice Benard. His portrayal of Sonny Corinthos is amazing. His scenes with Avery are so real. His reaction to the paralysis is also very real. But I most enjoy his interaction with his son Morgan, regarding the bi-polar storyline.

Laura Wright is also amazing. Totally believable as her grandmother in the flashback of Luke’s childood, and in her steadfast love for her husband, her kids, and her friendship with Jake/Jason. She is his champion to the end. I love watching her.

GH has not had the greatest storylines of late. So much so that I stopped watching and only fast forwarded through the show on Hulu.

I’m hoping the new writers can bring GH back to its former glory days. 🙂

I agree Tony did a fabulous job! I also think Rebecca did a great job playing Liz.. I don’t like the character but I appreciate what a great actress she is…

I would love to see Maurice Benard win another Emmy for his performance as Sonny.. He is an excellent actor and I think he has been passed over too many times in the last few years… I would also like to see more of him and improved storylines for GH…the storylines are dragged to far out and are very slow.. More action and drama please

Kelly Sullivan may have a lot of soap experience, but her portrayal of Sage is absolutely not Emmy worthy. Her acting is way over the top, her facial expressions are so exaggerated and hammy I find her very difficult to watch. Which is the same issue I had with Cady’s Kelly. She too opted for acting choices that are typical soap opera cliches. I really cant’ see either one winning.

Kristian Alfonso, on the hand, delivered spectacular performances this past November with Beau’s return and death. Her pain, her anger, her fear, all were apparent without the use of corny melodrama. Also I’d put GH’s Kelly Monaco in this field, her performance during the Jason reveal was subtle but very effective. She made us feel her pain again without histrionics . And I love everything Eileen Davidson does. She’s always on the best actress list for me.

For the actors, my faves include Jason Thompson, Billy Miller, Peter Bergman, and Stephen Nichols. They’re always so authentic, able to deliver layered performances that elevate sometime the worst material.
