‘Days of Our Lives’ Interview : Matthew Ashford Talks Possibility Of Returning To DOOL As Jack Deveraux

“Days of Our Lives” (DOOL) news includes the possibility that Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) could be back in Salem just in time for the daytime drama to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Matthew is certainly open to the notion and here may already have been a conversation with TPTB!
Now – as fans know – Jack is presumed dead but hasn’t that happened a time or two before? Ashford reveals that he does have his managers and agents monitoring things! Matthew told Soap Opera Digest, “You have to keep knocking on the door every now and then and say, ‘What’s up?’ It gives them time.”
Fans have been incredibly receptive and over-the-top excited as many actors have returned to “DOOL.” Wouldn’t it be great Jennifer Deveraux’s presumed dead hubby found his way home? Abigail Deveraux (Kate Mansi) and J.J. Deveraux (Casey Moss) would love to have their dearly departed dad home that’s for sure.
Matthew Ashford joined the cast of “DOOL” in 1987 and together with Melissa Reeves as Jennifer Horton became one half of “Days of Our Lives” most popular super couples. He left the soap opera in 1993 but returned in 2001 then left again in 2003. It wasn’t long before Ashford returned as Jack – he was back in 2004 but exited again in 2006 – and then made a brief appearance in 2007. The last time Jack was seen in Salem was in 2012. Jack Deveraux died – or presumed dead – while trying to free his daughter Abigail who was trapped in an elevator. He was able to save Abigail but he ended up trapped himself and plummeted to his death when the elevator cables broke.
If TPTB at “Days of Our Lives” want to bring back Matthew Ashford to reprise his role as Jack Deveraux they could certainly find some way of doing so. And as you can see, Matthew is definitely open to the idea! Would you like to see Jack reunited with Jennifer? Is it possible for Jack to come back from the dead?

No!!!! Jack can not come back. He clearly died in that elevator and to bring him back would be ridiculous. Unlike EJ getting the injection from Kristen, there wasn’t a possibility of him returning. I don’t like his character wither so my vote is no.
I have watched DAYS since 1969 so I watched most all of the”supercouples” come to be. One of my all time favorite couples was Jack & Jennifer! They had some funny, zany storylines in earlier days and were as much fun as Eugene & Caliope. I couldn’t wait to see what they would get into next! The writers eventually wrote the couple crappy storylines that haven’t done the characters or actors justice. I would LOVE to see Jack come back and their love renewed like the “OLD DAYS”!!!
