Y&R’s Billy Flynn Chimes In On DOOL New Chad DiMera Recast, Conner Floyd

Days of Our Lives spoilers note that after much anticipation, Conner Floyd made his debut as the Chad DiMera recast on the Tuesday, April 21, episode, replacing Billy Flynn. Flynn is now on The Young and the Restless, and the actor talked about Floyd stepping into Chad DiMera’s shoes.

Serendipitous Scenes

Due to Days of Our Lives filming months ahead of broadcast, Billy Flynn was still seen as Chad until February of this year, despite leaving the show in the spring of 2025.

Flynn played Chad since 2014, but hopped over to the Y&R in the summer of 2025 and was recast himself, as he began playing Cane Ashby.

In an interesting turn of events, Floyd was still on The Young and the Restless when Flynn entered the canvas, playing Chance Chancellor. Chance actually died in Cane’s arms.

Flynn jokingly told Soap Opera Digest (SOD) that the scene was ‘very romantic’. When Flynn started filming on the Y&R, he was made aware that Floyd was filling in for him at Days.

Before they shot their first scenes together, Flynn congratulated Floyd on snagging the Chad role. Flynn tells SOD, “He’s (Floyd) such a wonderful person, but it was very meta.”

He goes on to say, “Like, I came to the show, and now this person just died in my arms, but he’s gonna be reborn as the old me. It was pretty interesting, but we got a kick out of it! He and I laughed about it.

Flynn Admires Floyd

Flynn went on to say that he enjoyed working with Floyd on the Y&R for the short time they did,and his only regret was that they didn’t get to work together longer.

Flynn adds, “He’s almost like a little brother. He sounds like me. He’s like a more handsome, taller version of me. I think he’s gonna do really great as Chad.”

The similarities between Floyd and Flynn are uncanny! Still, Floyd will bring a different spin to Chad DiMera, so it’ll be nice to see the character dive into a new storyline and what he does next.
