Y&R Spoilers: Staged Sharon Accident Goes Wrong, Phyllis & Matt’s Scheme Ends In Disaster?

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) may regret going along with Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) terrible idea.

Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) could also pay the price for the catastrophe that’s potentially brewing, so let’s talk about how things might play out.

Based on Phyllis and Matt’s brainstorming session in Y&R’s September 3 episode, she wants to make it look like Sharon is in harm’s way.

The goal is for Matt to play the hero and hopefully convince everyone he’s a changed man.

However, there are a couple of major problems with Phyllis’ grand plan. For starters, Matt already saved Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) life for real when he gave him CPR following his drug overdose, but that wasn’t enough.

If Matt can save Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) own golden boy son and still face all these doubters in Genoa City, what makes Phyllis think some life-saving Sharon situation will change anything?

Of course, the bigger issue may be the potential for Phyllis and Matt’s plot to take a VERY wrong turn!

Matt doesn’t want any true danger for Sharon since he can’t stand the thought of putting her through more turmoil. It’s easy to see why Matt is a bit wary since he feels guilty about the awful things he did to Sharon in the past.

Nevertheless, Phyllis doesn’t consider this to be a genuinely dangerous scheme. According to Phyllis, Matt’s going to intervene before it gets out of hand and score praise for his heroism.

It’s the part about Matt acting before things get out of hand that concerns us! It sounds like there could be some scenario where Matt doesn’t act fast enough and Sharon legitimately winds up in danger.

Sharon might even get injured and rushed to the hospital depending on how it all goes down.

It’s possible there’ll be some sort of fake mugging that Matt’s meant to stop or something along those lines.

That said, Phyllis did mention the idea of a staged accident, which seems like something that might be especially hard to control.
