Y&R Spoilers: Phyllis Summers’ Over-the-Top Antics—Too Much or Just Right?

The Young and the Restless fans all can’t help but wonder: is Phyllis Summers being a little too extra?

And by that, we don’t mean some of the things that she says and does in her storylines. Instead, it’s how actress Michelle Stafford might be portraying her.

Is Phyllis Summers ‘Too Extra?’

After all, the previous actress that was in the role, Gina Tognoni, kept a little style and grace intact when she was playing the character, but it seems like Michelle might have taken it in a whole different direction.

And by that, we mean the new Phyllis might be a little “extra” and it shows.

As our loyal readers can imagine, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about this matter.

Some even took to social media to write, “Stanford so over-acts, hanging her boobs over a table while she’s talking to her own son…when her podcast bombed I remember hearing she pulled some strings with the Y&R executives and got Gina fired.”

Another critic wrote, “I’m really unhappy with Stanford. It seems like since she has become Phyllis.”

What’s Next For Phyllis?

“I feel like every time she talks to someone she’s saying ‘Nana Nana Nana Nana.’ Like a petulant child. She’s always talking about what she deserves. What does she deserve?”

And then there was this comment as well: “OK she’s a hacker. But what else does she bring to the table? She screwed around with Nicholas, a married man at the time, and had summer.”

“Prior to that, she was an attempted murderer, trying to run down Christine a.k.a. ‘the bug’ and Paul. Have we forgotten about who she really is? I really don’t like this character now.”

Now, whether or not the producers will force any real changes for Phyllis remains to be seen, but for now it’s pretty clear that Michelle Stafford has taken the character in a direction that seems a little bit controversial.

But then again, that’s always the case when it comes to the soap world and recastings, right? Plus, if there’s anything that we can all agree on, it’s that Genoa City would not be the same without Phyllis Summers and regardless of who would be playing the character.
