Y&R Melissa Ordway Spills Some Secrets On Abby’s Kidnapping Storyline

The Young and the Restless spoilers note that Melissa Ordway, who plays Abby Newman-Abbott-Winters, recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest (SOD), spilling some secrets about the kidnapping storyline she’s embroiled in. Find out what the actress had to say, down below.

Melissa Ordway Talks Dominic Winter-Chancellor’s Kidnapping

Ordway revealed that when she learned a storyline was in the works for Abby and her husband, Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James), she wasn’t sure what would play out.

Still, when she found out that Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters was being recast, once played by River and Rainn Ware, now played by Ethan Ray Clark, she knew the little boy would be heavily involved.

The recast was pivotal, and when Ordway got her hands on the script regarding Dom’s disappearance, she began to put the pieces together. The actress tells SOD, “… I was like, ‘Oh no! Poor Dominic, he’s gonna get kidnapped!’”

After contemplating the depth of the arc, Ordway then got excited, as she confessed, “… I was really excited. I was like, ‘Yay me, because I get to act this out.’”

Ordway Pulls “Momma Bear” Instincts

As Ordway has two daughters, pulling parental fear around a missing child storyline was easier than expected. In fact, the actress noted that if someone looks at one of her kiddos the wrong way, her ‘momma bear’ instincts come out.

When it came to the scenes around Abby’s emotional meltdown, Ordway noted, “I’m like, ‘All you have to do is just think about if this actually happened to your own child.’ Oh my gosh… everyone’s worst nightmare.”

Imagine when Abby finds out that her “friend” and Dominic’s surrogate, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), is behind it all!

 With that said, the good news is that Ordway has bonded with the new Dom (Ethan Ray Clark) and stated that throwing some fake snowballs on set on his first day helped.
