The Young and the Restless spoilers remind fans that Dan O’Connor and Jamey Giddens were named co-head writers on the show, replacing Josh Griffith, in late July, and reported for duty in early August.
They’ve been busy crafting stories for Genoa City residents, but when will fans see the results on television screens?
Soap Opera Digest is reporting the timeline of when viewers can expect the episodes that Giddens and O’Connor have written.
The first official air date for Giddens and O’Connor’s content to broadcast is slated for Wednesday, November 11 of this year … just in time for sweeps month!
Griffith has been head writer of the CBS daytime drama since 2019, so viewers should brace for major shake-ups. Only time will tell.
New Co-Head Writers
In 2007, Giddens became Daytime Confidential’s co-owner and also worked as a podcast host and journalist for the site. From 2019-2020, he wrote and co-created (along with Will Packer) the OWN primetime drama, Ambitions.
In addition, Giddens was on the Days of Our Lives writing team as a breakdown writer, winning both Daytime Emmys and Writers Guild of America awards.
In addition, he worked on the Days of Our Lives spin-off Peacock series, Beyond Salem. In 2025, Giddens worked on the Beyond the Gates writing team.
Meanwhile, O’Connor entered the soap opera writing spectrum as a writers’ assistant for One Life to Life. He moved on to become a continuity script supervisor, and eventually a script writer.
O’Connor hopped over to General Hospital in 2012 and eventually became the soap’s Co-Head Writer, along with Chris Van Etten, from 2019 to 2024. He has also won a Writers Guild of America and Daytime Emmy for his writing on General Hospital.
