Now that brand new writers are going to be taking over, there’s speculation suggesting that there might be more emphasis on the “younger” generation of Genoa City residents and that fans might be seeing them on the canvas more often moving forward.

But at the same time, many The Young and the Restless fans have made it clear that they don’t want to see the veteran actors and legacy characters take a back seat, should this happen. Clearly, many Y&R fans had a lot to say about the matter on social media.

Some even commented with, “While I would love to hear from the younger generation in fun storylines, please don’t put characters like Jack or Nicki out to pasture just yet.”

“They aren’t that old and, there are still lots of stories left for them if a writer decides to be more creative.”

Another critic of the show wrote, “Keep the older legacy characters on, but they should be supporting the stories of the younger characters. Like how many afflictions (Nikki, Jill) and repeats of the past (Jack) can one character have?”

“I like it better to watch Victor and Nikki support Nick through his drug addiction, for instance. Nick, Sharon, Phyllis, they should all be supporting their kids in some way.”

What’s Next In Genoa City?

And then there was this comment as well: “Usually in the Summer they focus on the younger characters, trying to attract a younger audience off from school. They sure didn’t this year. Apparently, there was no room for the kids in the Worst Summer Episodes Ever. Instead, we had to watch a reboot of CrazyPatty.”

Now, whether or not Y&R fans will be seeing the “younger generation” more predominantly in future storylines remains to be seen. So far the producers of the hit
