It’s always sad when The Young and the Restless stars move on to other projects, but we can’t help but cheer them on.

Y&R fan fave Thad Luckinbill’s career has been heating up lately, and he just booked a huge new movie.  Keep reading for all of the details!

What Happened To Thad Luckinbill On Young & Restless

Thad Luckinbill made his Genoa City debut on The Young and the Restless back in 1999 as JT Hellstrom.

After ten years of playing the character, Luckinbill exited the soap opera.  He has made a few brief comebacks on Y&R since his exit.  JT Hellstrom’s last air date was in 2023 when he returned for the soap’s special anniversary episode.

After Luckinbell left daytime TV, he went on to appear in minor roles on primetime series like Criminal Minds, Rizzoli & Isles, Grey’s Anatomy, and Ballers.  In 2023 Thad booked a new gig on the popular streaming series Lioness.  But, none of those jobs compare to the blockbuster movie he signed on to this year.

Y&R Alum Headed To The Big Screen

The former JT Hellstrom portrayer took to social media and shared a Deadline press release about his upcoming project.

Thad Luckinbill has been cast in the upcoming action movie Copperhead, and will be joining some big names in Hollywood.  Some of the names attached to the film so far include Miles Teller, Jason Momoa, Kiefer Sutherland, and Bobby Soto.

Despite leaving Y&R, Luckinbill is still close to the cast because his wife Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) is still on the show fulltime.  His former co-stars were quick to jump in the comments and congratulate Luckinbill on his success, including Melissa Claire Egan!
