Wheel Of Fortune’s iconic announcer has become the next celeb to get canceled over pedophilia allegations. Pat Sajak hosted the game show for 41 years.
But, if you actually watched the show over the years you would know that the man behind the curtain that announces the puzzles and letters is actually named Jim Thornton.
Who Is Jim Thornton From Wheel Of Fortune
This week, the announcer made headlines when he was unexpectedly fired by SONY and removed from Wheel Of Fortune’s upcoming season. Thornton found himself in some hot water after an incident with his laptop on an airplane.
Jim Thornton has been the announcer on Wheel Of Fortune since 2011, and prior to that he was a well-respected news anchor and radio show host for nearly two decades. He also appeared on Price Is Right, Celebrity Deathmatch, and Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune.
What Did Jim Thornton Do?
Earlier this year Thornton was spotted by a fan on an airplane, and they noticed that the Wheel Of Fortune host was viewing inappropriate websites on the flight and alleged they saw photos of minors.
The concerned passenger took photos of the celeb’s laptop screen and reported him to security when the plane landed.
According to Jim Thornton’s lawyer, his web viewing habits are completely innocent and the passenger misunderstood what he was doing.
The Wheel Of Fortune announcer’s lawyer released a statement and insisted, “Thornton become active in suicide-prevention advocacy since losing a close family member to suicide two years ago, and he has spent time visiting chat rooms offering support to individuals suffering from suicidal ideation.”
