True Crime Hollywood Style: When Celebrity Kids Go Wild Who’s To Blame?

True Crime Hollywood Style: When Celebrity Kids Go Wild Who’s To Blame?Hollywood has been rocked in recent weeks by two high profile celebrity kids making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Why do kids of privilege take a wrong turn when they have what appear to be perfect lives full of comfort and filled with ease?

The reasons are complicated and often remain obscure despite intense media scrutiny. The Daily Mail notes that despite having all the advantages in life, “psychologists stress how challenging it can be growing up as the child of a celebrity. Limitless money can facilitate limitless bad choices and leave a young person without direction or discipline.”

Here are five examples of celebrity kids gone wild, sometimes with fatal outcomes.

1) Nick Reiner

Last month Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested in a shocking case in which his famous dad Rob Reiner, and mother Michele Reiner, were found in their Brentwood home with their throats slashed.

Nick is facing two counts of first-degree murder following the deaths of his parents with prosecutors alleging that the couple were ambushed in their bed in the early morning of Sunday, Dec. 14.

A few hours after the bodies were found mutilated, Nick was arrested near the University of Southern California. He is being held without bail, and his arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 7, 2026.

Authorities have not shared a possible motive but it’s been widely reported that “The night prior to the killings, Rob and his son were involved in what sources described to PEOPLE as a “very loud argument” at a party hosted by Conan O’Brien on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Nick’s rebelliousness allegedly began in childhood with a source saying that Rob and Michele “tried everything — giving him space, keeping him close — but his struggles run very deep. It’s every parent’s worst fear.”

1) Victoria Jones

Victoria Jones is the daughter of Oscar-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones. On New Year’s Day Victoria, 34, was found dead in the hallway of a San Francisco hotel.

Her cause of death has not been reported, but the Daily Mail reports that “Victoria, who had long struggled with substance abuse issues, may have consumed fentanyl-laced drugs.”

TMZ reported that authorities were called to the hotel around 3 AM for a “code 3 … overdose, color change” and noted that an overdose with a color change “often refers to cyanosis a discoloration of the skin, lips or fingernails caused by a lack of oxygen in the blood.”

Victoria’s arrest record is troubling: last April 2025 she was arrested for drug possession and obstructing a peace officer and in June she was arrested and charged with domestic battery and elder abuse.

3) Chet Hanks

Despite being the son of one of the world’s most popular actors, Chet Hanks, 35, is described as the “black sheep of his family.”

Chet was reportedly “sent as a child to a special school for wayward teenagers and remained troubled throughout his 20s.” In 2015 Chet posted on Instagram about “drowning in cocaine and crack.”

4) Elijah Blue Allman

Elijah Blue Allman is the son of Cher and Gregg Allman. Last year the 48-year-old was rushed to a Southern California hospital due to “a near-fatal drug overdose.”

In April 2025, Elijah was served divorce papers by his wife Marieangela King and a month later he was seen “wandering around in a ‘zombie-like’ state outside LA’s Chateau Marmont Hotel – disheveled and incoherent, his legs covered in sores.”

In 2014 Elijah stated that his drug use, including heroin and opiates, began at age 11. Ten years later, Cher tried to gain a conservatorship over her son claiming that his “drug addiction … mental and physical health issues, made him unable to manage the $120,000 he receives from his late father’s trust each year.”

5) Cameron Douglas

Cameron, 47-years-old, is the only child of Hollywood star Michael Douglas and his first wife Diandra. He reportedly began using drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, acid and mushrooms, at age 13 and had multiple brushes with the law.

In 2009 Cameron was sentenced to five years in prison and has reportedly been sober since his release.
