Queen Camilla’s Doctor, Hannah Cain Allegedly Killed By Husband In Axe Attack

Dr. Hannah Cain, 45, professionally known as Dr. Hannah Terry, who treated members of the royal family, was found dead in the early hours of Oct. 4 at her home in Dersingham, Norfolk. Her husband, Mark Cain, 45, has been charged with her murder.

GP Treated Queen Camilla

According to People, Dr. Hannah Cain was a general practitioner who “treated senior members of the British royal family including Queen Camilla.”

King Charles III and Queen Camilla were informed of her death. She worked out of Grimston Medical Centre, which temporarily closed following the incident.

The village where she lived is located only about a mile from the royal Sandringham Estate.

ITV News reported that “Cain’s three children, aged eight, 11 and 13, had been upstairs and two other children, aged eight and 10 were staying over for a sleepover.”

The outlet also noted that when EMTs arrived at the Fern Hill, Dersingham home, they found Dr. Hannah Cain “unconscious and unresponsive” in an upstairs bedroom.

The Alleged Attack

Prosecutors laid out the details during a Thursday hearing at King’s Lynn Crown Court. Prosecutor Steven Ball said Dr. Cain suffered severe blunt-force head trauma and neck compression.

The Scottish Sun reported allegations that Mark Cain hit his wife with an axe and strangled her. He was at the home when police arrived and spoke with officers.

The timeline of statements from the suspect raised red flags for investigators.

The Story Changed

Initially, Mark Cain called emergency services to report a “suspected burglary.” He claimed an intruder confronted him downstairs while his wife was asleep upstairs, presenting minor cuts on his body to back up the story.

Later, the story changed and he gave officers “further information including details about how she was allegedly killed.”

Ball described the intruder story as a deliberate attempt to mislead police. A post-mortem examination revealed severe injuries to her head and neck, while prosecutors alleged that Cain’s burglary account was an attempt to mislead investigators.

Why did he alter his story? Officials haven’t revealed a motive or explained why he changed his statement.

Remanded in Custody

Mark Cain appeared in court and spoke only to confirm his basic details.

A judge remanded him in custody, setting his next plea hearing for Dec. 3.

Her family released a statement through ITV News, calling her “kind, generous and loving” while remembering “the great care she took of all her patients.”

When ETimes covered the news on YouTube, some folks immediately wondered if there was a tie-in to the fact that children were there for a sleepover. One viewer reasoned, “That would be a motive…” However, there hasn’t been any motive established at this time.
