In 2025, Prince Harry told the BBC that he’s finally open to reconciling with his family. To prove this, he actually made the trip to see his father in person for the first time in a long time in September, 2025.
However, in 2026, we’re hearing that this so-called reconciliation bid will not deter him from pushing ahead with his planned Princess Diana project.
According to reports, Harry’s plans to leverage Diana’s legacy for Netflix is rubbing Prince William the wrong way.
Prince Harry Wants To Honor His Mother’s Story Ahead of A Milestone Anniversary
2027 will mark the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, and Prince Harry means to do something special to mark the occasion.
Yeah he’s going to be earning some pretty change on the side, but sources say the 41-year-old Prince mainly just wants to pay homage to his mother’s legacy.
Per a source, the Duke of Sussex is reportedly determined “to honor his mother and share her story with the next generation.
Harry’s got his deal at Netflix.” The source further claimed that “when he’s ready to pitch this project, he’ll go straight there.”
The downside is that Prince William isn’t happy about it, especially since Meghan is said to be significantly involved in the project. If sources are to be believed, the Duchess, 44, will be directing the project in what will be her directorial debut.
Meghan has been accused of cosplaying Princess Diana multiple times, not least with her latest Harper’s Bazaar cover story pictures.
As a result of this, William “doesn’t want her anywhere near his mother’s story.” Per the source, William is “absolutely sickened that Harry, and by extension Meghan, will be profiting off Diana.”
The sad truth is that Prince Harry has since stopped needing his big brother’s permission to do anything. So of course, he means to push through regardless of William’s stance.
The Diana biopic is said to be the biggest project the couple have in the works for Netflix, with an executive claiming to ShuterScoop that it “could be the crown jewel. It’s the one project that could make the entire deal worth it.”
In 2021, Pablo Larrain directed a Princess Diana biopic titled, ‘Spencer,’ starring Kristen Stewart. It explored the late Princess’ troubled marriage to then-Prince Charles and the circumstances surrounding their divorce.
