Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have received a massive warm reception during their tour of Australia in 2018, but it’s been many years since, and anyone can admit that a lot has changed.
This coming April will see the couple travel to Australia to engage in private and philanthropic activities for a couple of days.
However, they have been advised to prepare their minds to swallow the gall if the reception they get is less than warm.
Already, Australians are signing petitions to keep them from showing up on their shores.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle To Likely Face Massive Pushback During Their Upcoming Australia Tour
Even though some of Harry and Meghan’s engagements in the country will be far from private a visit to Australia’s armed forces and veterans’ community is in the calendar Australians aren’t particularly happy about it, and they are happily sharing their opinions about this online.
“I think there will be plenty of monarchists and republicans who won’t welcome Harry and Meghan’s visit. Any ‘royal’ visit, even by members of the family who no longer represent the King, will inevitably create debate about the monarchy,” a source told Daily Express.
The Royal Family is said to be wary about Harry and Meghan’s visit, especially since it’s likely the Prince and Princess of Wales will be heading there sometime this year.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Looking To Use Australia Visit To Boost Their Brand
Despite the public pushback, PR expert and talent manager Dermot McNamara believes Harry and Meghan need this trip to pump some positivity into their brand.
He said: “It’s a last chance for them to establish where they fit and where they want to go. Harry, in particular, probably feels he should get back out there and they know Australia is a place that loves them dearly, especially when compared to the UK.”
“So it’s a trip that has a lot of possibilities but also a lot of risk. It’s a way to send the message we are here and we are active,” he said, adding, “it offers a middle ground for them to present themselves as Harry and Meghan, as royals, and as international celebrities, without it being too much in everyone’s faces.”
