While frustration and fatigue settle on true crime investigators, on Sunday, Brian Entin shared an update regarding the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case. Actually, he looked tired as he’s been in Arizona for weeks now. He talked about a new DNA topic, and hopefully, it might eventually conclude the case.

Major DNA Break

Probably, you heard about several gloves that investigators found. Apparently, some were discovered on a road about two miles from Nancy’s home.

Plus, the news arrived about the intruder possibly dropping a glove at the home of Savannah Guthrie’s mom’s place. Well, on Brian Entin Investigates he talked about the one at the home.

Apparently, the FBI found DNA on the glove. And, according to a statement from the bureau, it seemed to match the glove seen on footage released of the intruder. Well, experts currently run the glove’s DNA through the CODIS database. Hopefully, they find a match.

More DNA

Importantly, investigators  also found “alien” DNA inside Nancy Guthrie’s house. With that, potentially, a match could help in a major way. It’s been 16 days since Nancy disappeared and everyone begins feeling some despair.

DNA expert Cece Moore explained to Entin that the “unknown male profile” seems more important than the glove. Found inside the home, it means that profilers could easily eliminate any workers or family members. So, hopefully, the forensic science side of that gets the case moving, and solid results.

The SWAT Raid Aftermath

True crime experts and watchers felt deflated when the latest SWAT raid on Friday night turned out to be a nothing burger…again. Brian and others witnessed two, or three folks detained. Meanwhile, downtown in Tucson, another guy in a SUV also ended up detained. But to no avail, as they were later all released with no charges.

Still, sources told Entin that they shouldn’t be discarded completely. Even though they’re free for now, the FBI still processes evidence from the search warrant. Returning there, Brian knocked on the door, but a woman inside just peeked through the blinds and refused to come out.

Trouble Within The Sheriff’s Office

Plenty of folks grumble about the Nancy Guthrie case because of rumors about a lack of cooperation. Well, Sergeant Aaron Cross opened up about the drama inside the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.

In fact, as he serves as the union president, he’s supposedly protected when he speaks out. Unfortunately, he claimed that the department is “very young,” and lacks the experience needed for a crime case this big. Plus, he talked about an exodus of more experienced detectives leaving Pima County.

He also mentioned that a “top-secret” signal sniffer on a helicopter tried finding Nancy’s pacemaker. Unfortunately, the tech’s not perfect. Possibly, other tech gear like AirPods or smart washers interfered with the results. So, no go there either. However it seems encouraging that all avenues get explored.

Viewers Weigh In

As the world watches the Nancy Guthrie mystery unfold – or not unfold – viewers start voicing their frustration. But at the same time, they appreciate Entin’s professional and tireless reporting.

One of them opined, “EXCELLENT interview, Brian! Sgt. Cross is very well spoken. He really explained the chaos and turmoil within the Sheriff’s department that has been brought to light due to this case.”

More irritation followed though, because Cross mentioned that after a poll the sheriff apparently didn’t like about morale, he was tranferred. He told Brian:

This will be my 26th year…I am the second most senior sergeant in the department. He has me taking calls, phone reports. So, if your garden hose gets stolen and you want to make a phone report, I’m handling those…[there are] currently experienced staff sitting at desk jobs.

Another commenter remarked, “Unbelievable that the sheriff put an able-bodied intelligent police officer with 26 years of experience on desk duty taking mundane calls.”

Here are a few more responses from the discussion::

  • It is so scary to think that the local police and the FBI aren’t getting along while a woman’s life is on the line.
  • I really hope that DNA match comes back today. This family has suffered enough!
  • That union president is brave for speaking up. It sounds like a total mess behind the scenes.
