Nancy Guthrie hasn’t been found yet but new updates recently surfaced in the kidnapping case. It seemed that investigators turned their focus to potential evidence before the 84-year-old disappeared.
Timelines Of The Case
True crime followers heard that investigators now look into timelines from weeks prior to the abduction of Nancy Guthrie. Possibly, they received information that someone scouted the home or stalked the area.
Brian Entin reported on Thursday night, that investigators took a forensic height board to Nancy Guthrie’s front door. Entin said on his Brian Entin Investigates podcast that sheriff’s deputies put up a white tent outside the Tucson home of Nancy Guthrie on day 12 of the search.
Reportedly, they went in with photographic equipment and what he called “a forensic height board which I had never heard of before.” As far as he could tell, it had measurements on it. So, he speculated that possibly, they used it to compare against Nancy and figure out “how tall the person is.”

Actually, the tent was taken down after a couple of hours. Initially, he thought maybe rain in the forecast was the reason, but that didn’t appear to be the case.
The Bigger Story
The bigger story that Brian talked about involved the Pima County Sheriff’s Office asking neighbors for video dating back to January 1. Bear in mind, that date was a full month before the disappearance of Nancy.
Apparently, investigators sent an alert to neighbors within a two-mile radius of her house. In it, they requested footage of vehicles, traffic, and pedestrians. Clearly, they want evidence that someone suspicious visited the Catalina neighborhood before the abduction.
One aspect stood out for Entin who said that a neighbor told him detectives specifically asked for camera footage between January 11th between 9 p.m. and midnight. Interestingly, that timeframe hasn’t been made public yet. So, presumably, they zoom in on that specific night for a good reason.
The Gloves
Next, you might have heard that some gloves were found out on a main roadway about a mile and a half from the house. Well, Brian seemed skeptical that they meant anything at all. After all, a person he spoke with said that they owned a similar pair. Plus, they’re common gloves, and is it likely an abductor would toss out evidence on a busy road and leave it there for 11 days?
Additionally, you might have also heard that Reuters reported that a glove might have turned up inside the home of Nancy Guthrie. And, apparently the FBI and Sheriff Nanos clashed over where it should be sent for forensics.
Another Video
Apparently, another video surfaced from about five miles away. Allegedly, it showed someone with a backpack walking up to a gate. Remember, the footage shared by the FBI also showed an intruder with a backpack. Entin said that the sheriff’s office claimed that they check out all videos to help identify the suspect. Brian said:
This video is interesting because you see a person with a backpack. And some people have found similarities in the video to the person at Nancy Guthrie’s door, although there’s no confirmation of that.

Briefly, he also mentioned the reported clash between the sheriff’s office and the FBI which creates confusion for those folks working the investigation.
Viewers React
Apart from the actual news reports, many people praised Brian Entin for being the most reliable news reporter on the case. But they also discussed other things.
One comment read: “Just now doing forensic height board that’s kind of crazy because they arrested a guy that was 5 foot two and I can tell just by looking at the archway that the perp is much taller than 5’2.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- Why didn’t law enforcement do any of these things initially ? Like setting up a tent and forensics. Crazy.
- It’s strange that some of this basic info hadn’t already been obtained! Anyone who watches true crime would be further along in this investigation!
- Why are they just now requesting neighbor videos??????
- Sheriffs department is joke.. That crime scene should have been kept locked down since minute one when they arrived and do some proper investigating… So much time was wasted…
