On Friday evening, Brian Entin, who’s been covering the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case, reported that SWAT and mobile command deployed in Tucson, and some hours later, the news arrived that three people were detained. And apparently, in another scene, so was a fourth person. Read on for more details which broke very recently.

Confirmation Of 3 Detentions

Fox News reported back that three people were arrested. According to them and to a follow-up by Entin, they are definitely related to the Nancy Guthrie case. Reporting from Tucson, Arizona, correspondent Max Gordon said that the arrests happened at a home in an upscale neighborhood near Guthrie’s house.

“It’s been a very active night here in the Tucson area for law enforcement,” he added. Then he said that the first signs of activity surfaced around “8:30 p.m. local time.”

Rumors started about a heavy police presence close to Guthrie’s home. So, Gordon drove to the scene about two miles away. That’s where “three people were detained.” Two of them were males and one woman who is “the mother of one of those two males.”

Detained In An Upscale Area

The home in the Catalina Foothills isn’t a dump, and notably, most of the houses there “list for more than $1 million.” Gordon described seeing two “SWAT team vehicles” leave the scene, followed by “several unmarked vehicles, potentially FBI vehicles,” as investigators “comb through a house.”

However, while they tie into the Nancy Guthrie case, he wasn’t able to establish if the individuals live there, or if they are “actually suspects” at this time.

More Action

That wasn’t the only feedback that arrived. Gordon went on to describe that a “silver gray Range Rover” got stopped in a “Culver’s fast food parking lot.” In that case, “one individual was detained.” However, it’s “unclear if that second scene is tied to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.”

Also, he noted that the SUV “had its license plates covered” and it was “put on a flatbed and towed out of that parking lot.”

With that news, Friday was busy with a total of “four individuals detained this evening.” Notably, a scheduled press statement didn’t happen because the “FBI had asked them to not release further details.” So, the Pima County Sheriff seemed cooperative on that. In the meantime, many “questions remain.”

More Followed In The Report

With that done, the anchor brought in a Fox News contributor named Ted Williams. He’s a “former D.C. homicide detective, also a defense attorney.”

Ted talked about the Range Rover where the FBI were seen. He sincerely hopes it’s related. Additionally, he said, “I have to believe that this case of Nancy Guthrie going missing is the number one priority for all law enforcement out there.”

However, he also had some other questions. Ted said, “I’m hoping, first of all, that there’s a press conference tomorrow and that they will clear up a great deal of information that the public should be given.”

Then, he pointed out that nobody knows the motive for the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie. He added, “We know that a 84 year old woman that has medical illnesses was taken from her home. We don’t know really if it was for a ransom, meaning that someone was asking for money.”

The Ransome Notes

There’s been talk about a couple of notes. According to Ted, “We know that two alleged notes, one sent to a local television station and one sent also to TMZ. These two notes were asking for money, but we don’t know the authenticity of those notes. This is information that is not being shared with us.”

Of course, nobody knows whether any ransom was paid, although some experts thought that maybe Savannah Guthrie’s family might have done that. But again, it’s purely speculation.

An Out Of The Ordinary Case

Of course, Ted also talked about the unusual aspects of the case, noting, “normally…If it is in fact a kidnapping, within a reasonable period of time, the kidnappers will communicate with the family or law enforcement where they are going and what they want. None of that has occurred.”

Ted thinks authorities need to put more out there since they’re asking for help. Remember, the FBI even increased the reward to $100K. He said, “I think that the law enforcement there are asking for the public’s help. They need to share as much information as they possibly can.”
