Monique Tepe Left The Dec 6 Big Ten Game Early – Why?

Monique Tepe and her husband Spencer were murdered in their Columbus, Ohio home on December 30. But now, an affidavit seems to show that she left the December 6 Big Ten title game in Indiana early. How does that tie in and why did she leave?

McKee Seen On Cameras

As the official documents start piling up, there seem to be more questions than answers in the charges against Michael McKee, the vascular surgeon. Remember, he happened to be her ex from a decade ago. In fact, the true crime case turns rather chilling. On the day that the couple watched the game, cameras recorded McKee on their property.

When Ashleigh Banfield discussed that on her Drop dead Serious podcast this week, she cited the affidavit as saying that McKee hung around the property for a “couple of hours.”

Naturally, she wondered what on earth he did. Like did he try and pry open “a window?” or, did he try accessing the home with the door “codes?”

More New Shocking Evidence

December 6 was a long time before they actually died. Was it a “dry run”? Notably, the affidavits claim now, that both of them were shot “multiple times.” Until recently, reports suggested Monique Tepe died with one gunshot, while Spencer died after two shots.

Going back to December 6, Banfield suggested that Monique Tepe might have received a notification on her phone. Imagine being at a crowded stadium, trying to enjoy a game. Then suddenly, you’re seeing your ex-husband at your home.

After all, affidavits suggest that McKee once told her that he could “kill you at any time.” If she saw McKee inside her house via a Ring camera or similar tech, that could explain the sudden, frantic departure.

Never-Ending Harassment

The theory makes the nightmarish facts allow the imagination of true crime watchers to run wild. And rightly so. Imagine if you sat with friends and your husband, and suddenly your phone alerted you?

One moment everything feels normal, but if it showed her ex on the screen, it might have totally terrified her. Word is, that she told friends Michael McKee never stopped harassing her even after she married Spencer.

Timing finds support in the affidavit. Footage said to exist captures McKee stepping into the Columbus property during the couple’s absence at the event, remaining for hours, then leaving quietly. That same day, Spencer shared with acquaintances, that Monique Tepe seemed profoundly disturbed by an incident tied to her former partner.

McKee Never Accepted The Divorce

Now, people close to Monique speak up. What she allegedly endured sounds like a nightmare without end. Those nearest to her say McKee wouldn’t let go. Harassment allegedly came constantly, and he warned her of no escape ever.

A chilling promise emerged. Allegedly, he told her he’d live beside her if needed, as she’d always “be his wife.” Actually, what happened on December 6 could illustrate how deep his fixation went.

Though early accounts gave few details, the sworn statement also suggests that McKee shot Monique Tepe multiple times. And, that’s not something we knew before. Certainly it points to a murder fueled by rage. If he did it.

Evidence Piles Up

From the evidence against McKee, it isn’t looking good despite his apparently excellent lawyer. Authorities found signs he planned it well ahead. His vehicle wore fake tags pulled from other states: Ohio first, then Arizona. Switching them out may have helped him slip past automated scanners along the route.

Banfield also noted that the vehicle was found at the hospital where he worked. Alongside the timeline, possibly McKee simply strolled into work after the murders, and carried on as normal. Imagine sitting at home now, thinking about that, if you happened to be a colleague at the hospital!

Why Didn’t Monique Contact The Cops?

What looked like a quiet breakup hid something far worse beneath. And, while people question why she didn’t report it to the police, perhaps she simply felt too terrified to antagonize her ex.

The affidavit also talked about how hearsay evidence suggests that McKee allegedly performed “nonconsensual sex” with her, and tried to strangle her.

Probably, that happened during her seven month marriage. So, potentially, she got the heck out of it because of physical abuse. Meanwhile, the suggestion is that McKee never accepted that his relationship with Monique was over.

What are your thoughts? Do you think that Monique left the game on December 6 because her phone alerted her to the presence of her ex on her property in Ohio? Was she too terrified to report it?
