Jake Reiner Describes Living Nightmare After Murder of Rob & Michele

Jake Reiner finally spoke out about his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner who died in a double murder. Recently, their son wrote a personal essay about his grief. Well, it seemed very raw and obviously reflected the real feelings on the true crime. Read on to find out more.

A Living Nightmare

Jake posted his thoughts on Substack and Paula Froelich talked about it on NewsNation’s The Scoop this weekend. Jake called what happened a “living nightmare.” He said he still struggles to accept it every single morning. Sadly, he often has to tell himself that the whole thing isn’t just a bad dream.

Clearly, the pain runs deep. Jake said he got “robbed” of having his parents “at his wedding.” Plus, it also means that they won’t ever meet their future grandkids. He also talked about a “huge gaping hole” left behind. Apparently, he called his mom every day. And, now he can’t.

Family Torn Apart

The essay got into family stuff as well. Jake mentioned that he and his sister lost more than half their family in one go. Think about that! Notably, that point raised by Jake Reiner points straight at their brother Nick.

By now, most true crime followers know that Nick Reiner faces charges for allegedly murdering their parents. Meanwhile, it seems that the legal fight over his competency drags on. But, the emotional damage for the siblings left behind gets worse.

Reports say neither Jake Reiner nor his sister reached out to Nick since the arrest. Froelich said the siblings are likely “both processing” the mess. Then, she suspected that they understandably probably feel “furious.” On top of that, they can’t get away from the tragic murders, as it’s the only thing anyone wants to talk to them about.

Divided Viewers React

In the comments section, some folks felt pretty bad for Jake Reiner and the other kids in Rob and Michele Reiner’s family. One of them opined, “Poor guy. I hope him and his sister can move on and leave that loser brother behind.”

A few other responses from the discussion seemed a bit divisive. Actually, some folks feel that Rob Reiner wasn’t a perfect dad. So, a critic wrote, “I feel sorry for Nick having to have grown up with such a radical and abusive father!!”

Of course, that got some reactions like, “get out of your basement and touch grass.”

It raged on with another comment that said:

…you believe it was ok for Rob Reiner to put Nick’s needs above and at the expense of the rest of the family on a repeated basis? That’s abuse in and of itself! Rob Reiner…Did he deserve to die? No, but at what point do people realize they co-signed half of what they got as a result of their behavior toward Nick. Without a doubt!
