Remember when Meghan said she hit the ground running when she joined the Monarchy as a senior royal?
During the 2021 Oprah interview, she recalled not having been taught what to do, or how to handle herself during royal outings.
Yeah, according to a new book, it wasn’t the lack of willing teachers that was the problem, but the disposition of the student to always do things her way.
Meghan Markle Would Vet Prince Harry’s Every Speech As A Newly Minted Member of the Royal Family
Meghan Markle has accumulated a lot of nicknames since joining the Royal Family, from “control freak,” “bully,” to “Duchess Difficult,” and so many other unflattering ones, and a new book seems to confirm the “control freak” version.
As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gear up to return to Australia this April, we’re taking a look back at their highly successful tour of Australia in 2018, shortly after they tied the knot.
According to Harry, due to the successful nature of the tour, certain royals were peeved that she was doing it better than real royals.
However funny this may seem to you, it seems that he really meant it. Because, right off the bat, Meghan was calling the shots enough to review his speeches, even though he’d been a royal for way longer.
“Observers noted that Prince Harry’s speeches already had a Californian ring to them,” Vickers wrote. “In October 2018, they had visited Australia, deemed a successful tour, but every speech that Harry made was vetted by Meghan.”
“The following year, 2019, he appeared uncomfortable and the rapport between them looked nil. He seemed unhappy on Easter Day, and in a general sense a man who had ‘bitten off more than he could chew’.”
Vickers noted that Harry hadn’t wanted to break away from his family. However, Meghan would famously use a trip to Africa to tell journalist Tom Bradby how unhappy she’s become in the Royal Family.
This prompted the couple to leave for Canada, upon which Harry returned shortly after to propose a half-in half-out approach.
His proposal was promptly denied, with Vickers writing, “Prince Harry went to Sandringham for the meeting and was told it was either all in or all out. He returned to Canada — reluctantly out.”
