Joseph Duggar Spotted After Prison Release – Latest Whereabouts Finally Revealed

Joseph Duggar's Most Recent Whereabouts Revealed Following Prison ReleaseJoseph Duggar is no longer being held in Arkansas—but his situation is far from settled. After spending just over a week in custody, the reality TV figure was released from a Washington County detention facility on Friday, March 27. The development was confirmed by local authorities.

“The Washington County Sheriff’s Office tells PEOPLE that Joseph is no longer in their custody as of Friday, March 27.”

His release came nine days after he was first booked on felony charges connected to an alleged incident from 2020. While leaving custody might suggest progress, it has instead introduced a new layer of confusion.

As of now, officials have not clarified where Duggar has gone—or whether he has already been transferred out of Arkansas.

Extradition to Florida Still Unclear

Before his release, Duggar had been held while awaiting extradition to Florida, where more serious charges are expected to be pursued.

“Joseph was being held at the facility awaiting extradition to Florida after being charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office on March 18.”

Despite that, there’s no official confirmation that he has arrived in Florida. His name has yet to appear in local booking systems, and authorities have remained tight-lipped about his status.

“He is not yet listed as being in the custody of the BCSO. Charges have not yet been formally filed by prosecutors in that county and the agency declined to comment when asked by PEOPLE if Joseph had been extradited to their facility in Florida following his release from Arkansas.”

One key legal step had already taken place prior to his release—Duggar waived his right to an extradition hearing on March 20, effectively clearing the path for transfer to Florida.

Allegations Trace Back to 2020 Vacation

At the center of the case are serious accusations involving a minor, stemming from a family trip years ago.

Joseph is accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl multiple times during a 2020 vacation in Panama City Beach.

Investigators claim that Duggar admitted to the acts on two separate occasions—first during a conversation with the girl’s father, and later during a call involving both the father and law enforcement.

“A deputy sheriff with the BCSO wrote in an affidavit for an arrest warrant that Joseph allegedly confessed to sexually abusing the girl on two occasions — first to her father on March 17 and then the following day on a phone call with the father and a detective with the Tontitown Police Department (TPD).”

Authorities also carried out a forensic interview with the alleged victim, who has since provided additional details about the incident.

“That detective also conducted a forensic interview with the girl, now 14, during which she accused Joseph of sexually assaulting her as they sat on a couch in their beach rental while hiding his actions with a blanket, according to the affidavit.”

Duggar is expected to face formal charges in Florida once the legal process advances.

“Joseph is expected to be charged with lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor under the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior committed by an individual over the age of 18 when he is arraigned in Florida.”

Additional Charges Involving Duggar and His Wife

The Florida case is not the only legal issue facing Duggar. Authorities in Arkansas launched a separate investigation following a search of his home, leading to charges against both him and his wife, Kendra Duggar.

“In addition to those felony charges in Florida, Joseph and his wife Kendra Duggar as also facing unrelated charges stemming from a search of their home by the TPD and agents from the Arkansas Dept. of Human Services on March 19.”

Both Joseph and Kendra are now facing multiple misdemeanor counts.

“Joseph and Kendra have both been charged with four misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment as well as four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.”

Kendra Duggar has since been released on bail, and both are scheduled to appear in court soon.

“Kendra is out on bail following those charges, and both her and Joseph are scheduled to appear in an Arkansas courtroom on April 29.”

From Reality TV to Courtrooms

Now 31, Joseph Duggar rose to public recognition as part of a widely known reality TV family.

“Joseph, who appeared on all four iterations of his family’s TLC reality series franchise beginning when he was just 13, is a father of four who has been married to his wife Kendra since 2017.”

Their relationship was also featured on television.

“His wedding to Kendra was featured in a 2017 episode of Counting On, at which time she joined the cast of the reality show.”

The family’s television presence came to an end in 2021 under unrelated circumstances.

“TLC cancelled Counting On in 2021 after a federal jury convicted Joseph’s older brother Josh Duggar, 38, of receiving and possessing material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.”

Josh Duggar is currently serving a prison sentence.

“Josh was sentenced to just over 12 years in prison and is now serving out his time at a low-security facility in Texas.”

What Comes Next?

Although Duggar is no longer in custody in Arkansas, the broader legal picture remains unresolved.

With Florida authorities yet to confirm his status or formally file charges, key questions remain about where he is and what happens next.

For now, the case continues to develop across multiple jurisdictions, with further court proceedings expected in both Arkansas and Florida in the coming weeks.
