However, the decision also comes with the window to have the case dismissed. Here’s why.
Joseph and Kendra Duggar New Plea Order Approved By Judge
I’m guessing the 31-year-old ‘Counting On’ star really does not want to end up in the same place as his eldest brother. Who knows? They might even be bunk mates.
So instead of continuing to claim innocence, like his elder brother still continues to do to this day even though he’s been behind bars for six years, he and his wife have decided to withdraw their guilty plea and go with a much different one.
Luckily for them, the judge has signed off on it, meaning that there’s a possibility their charges could be dismissed. However, the new plea isn’t exactly all bed and roses.
Per the court documents filed in Elm Springs District Court in Tontitown, Arkansas, on Monday, August 10, Joseph and Kendra, 27, must abide by certain conditions for a whole year if they want the charges to be dropped completely.
Among these conditions is making sure no other criminal offenses are committed by either of the couple until the time runs out.
There’s also the clause that they must adhere to all court orders and directions of the Arkansas Department of Human Services. They will also be fined a total of $1,850.
When their one year probation is complete, a review hearing will be held on August 4, 2027.
In addition to a separate child molestation charges, Joseph and Kendra were each charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second-degree and four counts of false imprisonment in the second-degree.
The charges were brought about after the Tontitown Police Department and the Arkansas Department of Human Services concluded their inspection of the couple’s property.
The inspection revealed that the couple had installed locks on the outside of their four children’s bedroom doors.
Kendra was released in April after pleading not guilty on a $1,470 bond. Even though she was initially not allowed to contact the victims, the ban was lifted after a judge approved her lawyer’s request to lift the order.
Joseph, on the other hand, was allowed to only have supervised contact with his children.
