Here’s Why Ryan Paevey Left General Hospital, Again

General Hospital viewers are still trying to make heads or tails of Ryan Paevey’s exit and Cassius Faison’s “death” this week.

First, the soap opera killed off Nathan West’s diabolical twin.  Now, we know Cassius is still very much alive.  But, sadly that doesn’t mean that Ryan Paevey is sticking around.  Keep reading for all the details.

Is Ryan Paevey Staying Or Going

Last month General Hospital spoilers revealed that fan fave Ryan Paevey would be leaving the soap opera.

Fans were upset that the talented actor was leaving the soap, again.  Last week, Cassius Faison was shot and presumed dead.  That jived with the spoilers that Paevey was leaving.

This week General Hospital kicked off with a bombshell reveal, Cassius isn’t dead after all!  Obviously, fans were thrilled because they thought that meant Ryan Paevey was sticking around too.  But, that’s not the case.

Why Did Ryan Paevey Leave

Ryan Paevey returned to the ABC soap in September 2025, after being gone for over seven years.

At first Nathan West was supposed to be back from the dead, and then eventually it was revealed that he was Cassius Faison (Nathan’s secret twin).  Seeing as how his return lasted nearly a year, fans just assumed he was back for good.

Showrunner Frank Valentini set the record straight in a recent interview with TV Insider.  He explained that Ryan Paevey left the soap, because he was never intending on staying.

Apparently when the actor signed on to return, he was told in the beginning that it wasn’t permanent and would be a brief arc.

Valentini dished, “Ryan’s return was always planned as a short-term arc. He did incredible work, and we loved having him back.”

So, Ryan Paevey didn’t choose to leave General Hospital, he was never asked to stay.  Are you sad that Cassius Faison is leaving town?
