GH Spoilers: Sidwell’s Plan To Ruin Sonny Backfires As Mob Boss Aims To Protect Michael?

General Hospital spoilers say Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) found his son, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), in dire straits following Willow Tait Cain’s (Katelyn MacMullen) acquittal.

Father and son were seeking different outcomes, with Michael’s thinking Willow going to prison was the best way to control her access to their kids Wiley and Amelia Corinthos (Viron Weaver, Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko) and excise Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) from the situation entirely.

Sonny wasn’t worried about District Attorney Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) picking up the ball that Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) punted into her orbit, painting Michael as the obvious shooter. No, Sonny seems to be ten steps ahead where Michael is panicking a bit.

As he grows angry, his father is more seasoned and weathering this storm well, showcasing more of the development in Sonny’s character after years of being reduced to stewing on drama and stress.

He might be able to impart some wisdom on his son, but his first priority is ensuring he doesn’t go down for shooting Drew, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I know how he’s going to attempt that.

Sonny Has Been Waiting for Opportunity to Knock

This is it, the moment the mob boss has been waiting for. Ever since Kristina Corinthos Davis’ (Kate Mansi) near-fatal encounter in that fire at Charlie’s Bar — with Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo) of all people saving her life — Sonny has questioned what started that fire.

And ever since the firebomb in his penthouse that nearly claimed Michael’s life, he has wondered if Sidwell was behind it. But he hasn’t unearthed enough evidence that points to his newest enemy in town.

While DA Turner coming after Michael doesn’t appear to have anything to do with Sidwell, it is an opportunity Sonny might use to cast doubt on the Michael theory and point the finger of blame at someone else — Marco.

GH Spoilers Reveal Sonny Loves an Eye for an Eye

Ever since Sidwell brought the hammer down on Sonny and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), they’ve both been deer in headlights, unable to wriggle out from under Sidwell’s blackmailing thumb.

But giving the police reason to suspect Marco is up to no good — whether connected to Drew or not — is leverage that could work in Sonny’s favor by either twisting Sidwell’s arm, or constructing a narrative that Marco might have shot Drew. A tough sell?

Somehow This All Works Out

Far be it from me to claim GH never leaves annoying plot holes in the mix, but they do a pretty good job of cleaning up their own messes. In this case, we don’t have a lot of context for where Marco was the night of Drew’s shooting, and it doesn’t really matter.

That means GH could pin this on virtually anyone, and that makes it convenient to pull from a stack of people who we didn’t think would be anywhere near the Congressman. Can Sonny find a reason to tether Marco to Drew?

Could he call in a favor from Alexis to help him do this to her latest law firm team player as a form of repayment for painting a target over Michael’s back to save Willow? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
