General Hospital spoilers reveal Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) left us in a sea of tears when her untimely death hit just before Halloween of 2024.
We knew it was coming, but nothing could have prepared us for the pain of watching Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) say goodbye to her.
We never got the retake of them as a couple that we longed for again. We didn’t get to see Sam and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) navigate life with Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) waking up.
Instead, we got to watch Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) rip Emily ‘Scout’ Cain (Cosette Abinante) away from everyone who ever loved her in the wake of her mother’s death — and I just can’t imagine that Sam would ever be okay with this.
So, if the rumors are true that Executive Producer Frank Valentini is trying to bring her back, then I have to think Drew will come to rue the day it happens.
Drew’s Doing a Bang-Up Job Raising Scout
Quickly after Sam died, Drew stepped in to play the role of the doting father. The fan base was already hating him at that point for ripping Willow Tait Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael Corinthos’ (Rory Gibson) family apart, so the way he selectively yanked Scout’s stable relationships out of her life one by one only fanned the flames of disgust.
Scout went from a loving home with Dante, Sam, Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), and Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr), to barely seeing the Quartermaine family and not being allowed to see Danny and Rocco, nor her grandmother and aunts.
Furthermore, he’s been bending the rules, breaking the law, blackmailing doctors, and bribing judges. There is no way Sam would stay away and let Scout endure this if she knew. So it’ll be interesting to see how GH might be able to bring her back.
Hell Hath No Fury Like a Mother’s Love
It’s possible that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) was working for Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) or Cesar Faision (Anders Hove) the whole time, and that the “deaths” of Sam and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) were intentional to destabilize Jason.
If that’s the case, we don’t know what has become of Sam since then. She may have thought she died just like Britt did, only to wake up somewhere else under someone else’s control.
We can trust that her comeback would be epic, not just for the fans who loved her, but for every fan who hates Drew. No one is going to stick it to him more than Sam — who will want him to pay for what he has put Scout through.
Sam Wasn’t Only a Mother
Don’t forget. While sufficient all on its own, Sam was more than a mother. She was a talented Private Investigator. She knew how to think like the bad guy because she sort of used to be one. Running cons was a way of life for her once upon a time.
She’s going to know all of the best ways to unearth dirt on Drew and use it against him, and coupled with her mother, Alexis, they may both see to it that Drew never sees his daughter again. Of course, Sam may not be that brutal in retaliation, but some fans would love to see it!
