General Hospital spoilers suggest Dr. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) talked a good talk when she met with Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) about getting her job back as Co-Chief of Staff at the hospital.
Rumor has it she’s not going to be out on her hiney, but she also might not like the offer the hospital leaves on the table for her.
Much like we saw with Detective Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) this week being demoted to beat cop all over again, Portia may be welcome to remain a doctor on staff at GH, but she might not remain in charge of all of the rest of them there.
A Step Back in Time
Portia is doing a lot of course-correcting as of late. Honestly, she will probably be heartbroken if she is offered such a large demotion. She might even be angrier with herself for her choices that led to this.
She’ll probably struggle with feeling embarrassed that she lost such an important role, and may not want to show her face at work right away.
Going from everyone’s boss to everyone’s peer is rough — and everyone and their brother knows what she did, too! But with a new baby coming, a slower pace and less demanding career may be the sweet spot for Portia.
This Levels the Playing Field
Back when Portia was first getting involved with Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson), he was concerned that news of their relationship might make him look like he was given preferential treatment in some capacity, favored, or not as skilled of a doctor.
Moreover, there was risk involved because if one of them lost their job over their romantic relationship, he knew it would be more likely to be him than the Co-Chief of Staff.
Now, if Portis isn’t allowed to return to that position, he may feel like he’s on more equal footing with his girlfriend.
Where in the World is Dr. Terry Randolph?
Like I said, Portia wants to return as Co-Chief of Staff. Emphasis on the Co. Dr. Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) hasn’t been on screen since April of last year. I have to assume that’s who is running the ship right now while Portia is on a career hiatus.
But if Terry isn’t going to be around, and Portia can’t return to her duties, I am led to think someone else will fill those shoes soon. Who might that be?
Putting Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) back in control seems like a likely pick at some point, even though she did just get her medical license back.
However, it’s not like she had it removed because she did something wrong. She just “died.” Who do you see taking Portia’s job if she isn’t allowed to have it? Share your thoughts in the comments, and keep checking back for more GH news and spoilers just ahead.
