But, we can now cross one newbie off the list of new faces that we have been trying to remember. Newcomer Christian Howard has officially left the building and his final episode aired on Tuesday, August 4.
GH Spoilers: Ethan Lovett Leaves Town
This week on General Hospital, Ethan Lovett (Christian Howard) said his goodbyes and left Port Charles for the foreseeable future.
Nathan Dean announced in April 2026 that he was returning to GH as Ethan Lovett, after being away for over a decade.
Fans were thrilled by the news, but what a lot of fans did not realize is that Nathan Dean only signed a contract for four months on the soap opera.
The General Hospital fan fave revealed in an interview with TV Insider last spring that the soap initially wanted him to sign a three year contract, but he couldn’t commit to that long.
Apparently the writers cut down his storyline to fit in to four months, and it still didn’t!
GH Spoilers: Christian Howard Arrives As A Recast
Christian Howard arrived unexpectedly on General Hospital in late July. It was revealed that Nathan Dean’s contract ran up before he was able to film his final scenes, so Howard filled in as a brief recast for this week’s episodes.
It’s actually upsetting that fans didn’t get to see Nathan Dean say goodbye as Ethan Lovett. But, Christian Howard did do a phenomenal job filling in as a temporary recast.
According to General Hospital spoilers, the door is always open for Nathan Dean to return again as Ethan further down the road. But, don’t expect to see the actor any time soon because he and his wife are welcoming a new baby this month.
