Although Ava arguably had some chemistry with Nathan Dean’s version of Ethan Lovett, the whole recast situation wrecked the pairing.
It was tough to get behind Ava and Christian Howard’s Ethan in their recent scenes together, especially the ones that were supposed to be flirty.
After all that Ethan and Ava buildup, everything fell flat after the recast was suddenly inserted in all this. Now Ethan feels like a stranger, so it’s not surprising that his chemistry with Ava is nonexistent.
Of course, Ethan’s storyline is taking him on the run anyway based on summer preview spoilers. Maybe it’s better that Ava and this new version of Ethan flopped hard since he won’t be sticking around to develop this romance.
Regardless, many GH fans are getting fed up with Ava’s disastrous love life at this point. Social media has been lighting up with criticism over the show failing Ava in the romance department.
It just seems like Ava never gets a proper love interest that she can actually build a future with. Ava and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) had an intriguing vibe, but they were set up to fail since he was a villain and nearly killed her nephew, Lucas Jones (Van Hansis).
Before that, Ava and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) seemed rather promising as a romantic duo, but the show didn’t fully develop them as a couple either. It feels like all Ava’s love stories either get derailed or are doomed from the start.
Ava deserves a romantic reboot and the chance to actually be happy with someone. Could Ava get that chance at some point in the months ahead?
Time will tell, but Ava has proven to be a fan favorite along with her portrayer. Maura West is a talented actress and an important part of the cast, so we’ll see if Ava might get a new romantic storyline that actually sticks sooner or later.
