GH Spoilers: Are We Headed For Nikolas Cassadine’s Timely Return?

General Hospital Spoilers: Are We Headed For Nikolas Cassadine's Timely Return?General Hospital spoilers tease Adam Huss (portrayer of Nikolas Cassadine) recently spoke to Soaps and opened up about how much unfinished business he feels Nikolas still has in Port Charles.

He’s doing hard time right now because of his crimes. Keeping a pregnant woman in captivity in his home is not nothing.

Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) may have been many things to many people, but to Nikolas, she was both the mother of his child and a massive liability because of it.

His desire to keep that a secret and somehow dispose of her and keep their child blew up in his face.

But the end of that story could possibly be a new beginning — one in which Nikolas returns to show us how much more he has grown since he humbled himself enough to surrender himself and put his child’s needs ahead of his own — a first for him.

Laura Carries the Weight

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) has been carrying much of the burden of Nikolas’ choices ever since he made them.

Nevermind the reputational damage it may have cost her as Mayor, but Nikolas was on the lam as a fugitive for some time — which flies in stark contrast to the principles and morals that Laura esteems herself in standing for.

Moreover, she ended up being the only person left behind to care for Nikolas’ son with Esme, Ace Cassadine (Karis and Kieran Barry).

Laura also gets to carry on with the grief of losing her other grandson, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) after Esme’s retaliatory spiral against him and his father led to his death.

If Nikolas came back, he would have a lot of atoning to do with his mother, and Huss as much as conceded to that.

Ace’s Dad Isn’t the Same as Spencer’s Dad

It’s fair to credit Nikolas with growing up, even if it was about forty years too late. He certainly didn’t assume the role of parent and protector when he slept with his son’s college-aged girlfriend and got her pregnant, nor when he aimed to conceal the baby on board and his mother by keeping her trapped in a tower on Spoon Island.

Still, he came to his senses, and in the best interest of Ace’s well-being, left him with his grandmother and turned himself into the authorities.

Nikolas finally took responsibility for his actions for the first time in a long time, and it may have been a signal that he is ready for change.

That would be welcomed, given that he was far from the best dad to Spencer. Maybe if he got out of prison, he would strive to be a better father for Ace.

Will Nikolas Return?

So, will we see Nikolas again — and not behind plate glass? If he does come back, would it open the door for another return we really want to see happen? Spencer was lost at sea, technically. They never found his nor Esme’s bodies.

It’s possible they’re both still out there, and it would make the most sense that they don’t return when Nikolas isn’t in the mix. With recent mentions of Nikolas’ name firing off around Port Charles, it is leading many to suspect his return might be imminent. What do you think?

I’d personally love to see him and Ava Jerome (Maura West) also have a second chance. Share your thoughts with us in the comments, and keep checking back for more GH news and spoilers.
