True Crime Examined reveals a new legal situation has highlighted a long-standing Hollywood marriage; Timothy Busfield is facing an arrest warrant due to accusations of child sexual contact and child abuse.
The allegations include inappropriate touching of a child under 13, with the investigation starting in November 2024.
An Arrest Warrant Has Been Issued For Busfield
An arrest warrant has been issued for actor and director Timothy Busfield in Albuquerque, N. Mex. Busfield, who is well-known for his roles in Field of Dreams and the TV drama thirtysomething (for which he won an Emmy), is married to Melissa Gilbert, a former star of Little House on the Prairie, who currently appears on the Hallmark Channel show “When Calls The Heart.” Parade contacted Busfield’s representatives for a statement but did not receive a response right away.
The court documents reportedly indicate that Busfield is facing two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and an open count of child abuse, with charges allegedly involving a child under 13. It’s crucial to understand that a warrant and charges do not equate to a conviction. At this point, the allegations have not been established in court.
What Court Documents Show
According to reports, one of the children, a set of twins who were part of a show directed by Busfield, told law enforcement that he touched them inappropriately when they were 7 years old.
The Albuquerque police launched an investigation in November 2024, following a report from the University of New Mexico Hospital. The staff informed police that it seemed the children had been groomed, as per court documents.
The documents allegedly state that the children did not report any sexual contact at the hospital. But they did mention “Uncle Tim” tickling them on their stomachs and legs, even though they did not enjoy it.
Social Media Quickly Picked Up The Allegations
Busfield has consistently worked for many years, both in front of and behind the camera; the news quickly spread on social media, where reactions varied from shock to anger.
Some users showed sympathy for Gilbert, while others pointed out that public figures should not receive special treatment under the law. “No one should be above the law,” one commenter stated, while another expressed they were “so sad for his wife Melissa Gilbert.”
While some remarks drifted into speculation or political views, the main response focused on concern for those involved and calls for the legal process to unfold completely.
The next significant updates will probably come through official court actions or statements from Busfield’s representatives-until then, anything beyond what is stated in the charging documents remains speculation.
